What One Player Has Had More Influence On Their Sport?

Forgive me if this has been discussed before but I was just listening to an interview with Phil Mickelson talking about Tiger Woods and it got me thinking has there been a player who has had more influence on how a game is played or the money that is now made in their sport than Tiger Woods?

Courses have been Tiger proofed, seems to me personally their are golf courses springing up everywhere over the past decade and the prize money on the PGA Tour has gone through the roof since his joining of the PGA tour. Mickelson was saying before Tiger joined the PGA the largest Prize money tournament I believe was the Doral which had a total prize payout of $1.7 Million dollars and now most tournaments the prize payout is anywhere between $6 and $8 Million dollars

So has anyone had a greater impact than Tiger on their sport?

I agree...Tiger

More people are playing (and following) golf than ever before..and it's because of him.

I believe so; and I see where you are going with this, but I think that discussion deserves its own thread.
