Ok, somebody opened up a private club. It's so private you have to have a password to get in. Well this guy wasn't invited and didn't have a password. He decides if he stands close to the door he'll be able to hear a few people and figure it out.

So the 1st guy comes up and knocks on the door. Security yells out 12 and the guy yells back 6. Door opens and he goes in.
Second guy walks up and knocks. Security yells out 6 and the guy yells back 3. Door opens and he goes in.
So the guy figures ok I got this. He goes and knocks on the door. Security yells out 10 and he yells back 5. Door remains shut.

So what was the password and how did you figure it out?
