What sauce is good on Chinese ?

No perverts allowed...LOL...

For the New Year I decided to eat more healthy.
I only weigh about 100 lbs, but am in my 30's now and I figured it would make up for some of my other bad habits.
I gave up red-meat and have been eating a lot of vegetables over white rice.
I bought some Terriyaki sauce to dump on it but it tastes gross to me.
Any suggestions on a better sauce. Soy don't thrill me either.
Is duck sauce any good...is it sweet ? Help because this stuff tastes nasty...
Thanks...

For stir fry veggies, try soya sauce or oyster sauce.

sweet and sour sauce isn't an authentic chinese sauce. Go get vegan oyster sauce. As that is primarily used in many authentic chinese restaurants. Skippy has listed quite a good list.

Try some Pioneer brown gravy mix in a package. It`s not Chinese but it sure is great over vegetables and white rice.

Wated to post this for you BC

Healthy Living by Luke Cuomo
of the UFC....

OK, I'm going to try to keep this short and to the point because this topic is something that is very important in my life and I could go on forever about. But anyway, if you are looking to compete or at least train at a consistent level to get in shape you need to supply your body with the fuel it needs. This means you need complex carbohydrates, vitamins & minerals, fats, and protein.

Complex carbohydrates means things like whole grains (oatmeal, millet, quinoa), whole grain brown rice, and even some starchy vegetables (potatoes, yams, squash). Everything I list here should be bought organic when possible, so as to avoid harmful pesticides and such.

Vitamins and minerals can be bought in a store, but for every new miracle substance they find in nature, there are a hundred more yet to be discovered. For example, you can ingest a vitamin E pill or you can consume beans, legumes, and nuts to cover not only your daily recommended "dosage," but also provide your body with all different phytochemicals that boost your immune system. You'll notice a bunch of recent studies that show these "phytochemicals" have anti-cancer effects. The best place to get these are in fresh vegetables and fruits. Some vegetables like broccoli should be lightly steamed to make them more digestible, but usually they should be eaten raw, and of course organic.

A low-fat diet can actually be harmful to your health. Good fats help keep your skin smooth and elastic to prevent cuts and scrapes. Your body uses fats to make hormones and also for immunity. The kinds of fats you need are called EFAs (essential fatty acids). They can also be bought in supplemental form, but natural sources include fresh fish, beans, legumes, nuts, seed oils like hemp and flax, and olive oil. The thing with fats is that they are very heat sensitive. This really is true with all foods. The more you cook something, the more its chemical structure is changed and its healthful effects lessened. That’s why fried foods are unhealthy - the oil is heated and becomes actually harmful to your body. All oils you buy should be "cold-pressed" and kept in a cool, dark place.

You need protein every day, especially if you are exercising regularly. Don't misinterpret what I said about protein on the show. You NEED it. But there are big differences in the kinds of protein out there. Red meat, when cooked, is very acidic internally and animal fats are damaging to the cardiovascular system. Most protein shakes out there are made from egg or whey protein (a derivative of milk). The eggs are not organic and can you name one other animal on this planet that consumes the milk of another animal? I try to avoid dairy as much as possible as it clogs up my system. I like to get my protein from fish, chicken, turkey (organic), and vegetable sources like beans, legumes, and nuts. Did you know that combining brown rice and beans form a complete protein (meaning all the amino acids you need)? Believe it or not, there is also protein in green leafy vegetables. Look at the diet of our closest relative in the animal kingdom. Apes eat pounds and pounds of leaves all day long and they are super strong!

I warned you and now I'm rambling...

Just a few things you should avoid: the number one harmful substance in the supermarket is sugar. There is not one positive thing it does for your body and a million harmful things including making you more likely to fall ill and decrease the density of your bones. Sugar hides itself in different names like corn syrup & sucrose. The best way to avoid it is to not buy processed food that comes in a bag, box, or wrapper. Home cooked meals are the healthiest because you can control what's in them.

Also you should avoid excess salt or sodium. If you're losing weight for a fight it will hold water in your bowels. It also will make you cramp during intense workouts. Sea salt is the only kind you should use because it also contains minerals, but even then, don't use too much.

Hope this helps }:-)

I am looking for something other than rice thats for sure PigSkin...
I am not up on all this healthy eating stuff, as I always just ate whatever I wanted. I have trouble holding weight on so I need to eat healthy and keep my weight on. This is a nice problem to have everyone says !
Thanks for the suggestion and I will give it a try.

I have a real problem with the sugar issue. I'm a sweet lover girl !
I feel like I have moved to China already and others have told me get rid of the sugar...I may have to cut down and live with that. I have started oatmeal for breakfast and taking lots of vitamins.
Thanks for the article Roma !
