What is a unit to you?

I've always thought of one unit being your average play and any more than that you would multiply times that number. As an example, if your average play is a hundred....a two unit would be two hundred a three unit three hundred and so on. But everywhere I look people are posting 5,10, 20 units like nothing. I can't believe people are betting these if they think a unit is what my definition of a unit is. I even read a service in the newsletter section say bet 500 units.......and claimed it was a small play.

A unit is whatever one wants it to be. The norm for a lot of people it is 1 unit, $100, etc as you mention above

I'm just trying to figure out how good some people are. I see people up 200 units or whatever and am wondering what that really means. I see some people never seem to bet one unit....it is always 5,10,or 20.....so I'm wondering if maybe their, five unit is the same as my one unit. But in that, case when they win it makes them see better because they are up more units. That's all I meant.

Well I wouldn't assume that someone is better than you because they play higher units especially when you are talking about services who throw around 500 unit plays on a daily basis - it's all about the hype!

I would only gauge how good someone is based on their wins and losses. Of course units mean something if you are playing everything the same or even a slight range but you have to take everything in to account.

One unit should represent a percentage of your bankroll, i recommend 3% (no more than 5%). Forget all of that 10, 20, 50, 500 unit crap. Multiply your bankroll (the total amount of money you have available to play with) by 0.03 for 3% or 0.05 for 5% etc. to figure out how much a unit represents in your case. Example: if you have $1,000 1 unit = 1000 x 0.03 = $30.
Don't stagger your bets, bet 1 unit on each game you play.

yeah same here, If i want to drop 300-500 or even more on ONE bet, I will make that bet, and a few other of my 'strong' feels ...... I should stick to placing just one big bet, but again...not disciplined

Some people say *500 units for attention or like Dr. Jack said to create hype in a play. Some people may say *500 Units and there unit = $1.00. Then there are some people that may say *500 Units but they use a much larger roll then most do upwards of 100,000+ Unit BankRoll.

The way I always based my Units off of would be *1 unit would = 1% of a 100 unit bankroll.

So if one Unit= $25 your bankroll would be about $2,750.00 That would give you $27.50/25.00 So your 1 unit would be $27.50.

To be on the safe side it is always smart to use the 100 Unit BankRoll.

To answer your question though you never know what a unit is to someone it could be no money or something. GL

jello i agree 100% with your scale of units. it should be the amount a bettor places the most of. making it any other amount is just hot air and meaningless.

with this scale a bettor can make 1-20 unit plays that tell how strong he likes them. but 500 unit mega play, every week? please just scale that shit down to 1. it's the same thing minus the bs.
