Thumbs down What are your biggest moose jobs betting on sports?

Just had one tonight going to take some beating. Had the West Coast Fever in netball, had them to win and cover, all up worth about $300 to me if they do both.

Game rolling along perfectly, West Coast up 17 points at halftime (line was 8.5).
17 points is a massive lead in netball to draw a comparison it would be like an NFL team up 31 at halftime trying to cover 8.5.

How could I not win from here you ask?
I mean afterall they are playing in an indoor arena, how can rain burn me? surely not?

Oh yes it can, nearing halftime Perth is hit with a sudden downpour, there is a small leak in the roof and water keeps dripping onto the court. After an hour of deliberating, due to player safety they call the game off. First time ever in Australia or NZ a netball game has been called off under these circumstances.
For a match to be deemed official it needs 3 quarters. All bets refunded.

My other one that comes to mind was on the Eastern NBA playoffs about 5-6 years ago.
Had a prop bet on A.I. to score over 21.5 for Philly. He was sitting on exactly 21 points with 2 minutes or so to play. Philly up by about 9-10. Gets sent to the line with not much time left....ok shouldn't be a problem right? I mean we are talking about a mutiple NBA scoring champion.....well he missed both, first one did a lap of honour and came out, same with the second.....the ironic laugh he gave after the second missed didn't make me feel any better either.

How about you what are some of yours?

in my first year... at the local track, teh horses were supposed to trot... had a nice superfecta (incl trifecta), my horses all well lined up, all one after another with 2-3 lenght in between and the leading horse started to gallop about 15 meter before finish... would have paid. i think after that i got used to it...

i don't punt the horses that often anymore and the odds are usually worse, so if i get a beat, it's seldomely over 3 units (net)... but that win would have been pretty awesome to my bankroll at that time. (but i finished that day well in the plus anyways).

Earlier this year in NCAAB I was all in on Stanford/ASU under. I think the line was 120.5. Well the score was 60-58 Stanford, ASU has the ball. Take a shot with 4 seconds left which misses, someone gets the offensive board with 2 seconds left and puts it back it in. 60-60 OT and my 120.5 and account go up in flames. Luckily I pulled a big chunk of it out 4 days earlier.

Had a huge winning streak and my account was up to $3,500. Pulled 1K out. Right after that I went on a 0-18 streak in 5 days and went bankrupt. Worst streak ever.

netball is actually an american sport...well invented here in usa...some lady in lousiana looking for rules from naismith so she could incorporate basketball for women...well she misinterpreted the rules when she applied them, and thus netball was invented

i would say the biggest one for me was in the australian open and having youzhny in an early round match...dude was up 2 sets to 0 had match point up a break even in the 3rd set...dude is at the net and all he has to do is tap the ball over the net...what does the fricking moronic russian do? he goes for the slam and slams it into the net...giving life to his opponent and he goes down hill from there and squanders a huge lead and leads to a fricking collapse and a victory for his opponent

iverson has screwed me on numerous occassions...the biggest time was i think in the playoffs back in 2000 or 2001 against the indiana pacers...espn had a free contest that was random...you log in and you get 3 players across all sports that are going on at the time...well i got 3rd place for that day which paid nothing...only the person with the highest point total with the 3 players given wins...the 2 dudes who finished higher than me had iverson as one of their players...indiana was smoking philadelphia...philadelphia was up by like 15 or so with like 1:50 left to play...iverson had the flu and should have been on the bench because the game was basically over and he was sick...well the fuker larry brown leaves iverson in the game and he scores one final time...as soon as he makes that basket azzhole larry brown pulls iverson for the remainder of the game...with all of that being said i got 3rd place and not 1st place because of that last shot...had he been on the bench like he should have with all of the circumstances presented, i would have gotten first place and won 12,000 usd
