When You Bet On Games....

Are you conservative with your money that you bet or do you just bet whatever amount and hope it hits? The reason I`m asking is I`ve seen people go broke in a matter of weeks/months by not managing there money properly. As for me I bet conservative.

The same amount. Sometimes less for examples on prop plays. Each time I bet more than my standard, I lose.

my early days of gambling i used to chase alot, learned my lesson the hard way when lost around 20K in a matter of couple of months, now im very conservative, I try to hedge, middle games almost every time i get a chance, sometimes i think im too conservative but I leraned that in sports your bets are never safe.

Conservative with my on-line books. But with my bookie John (my buddy), well lets just say I hand him more envelopes than I receive.

I've been gambling for a long time and I still chase, and probably always will. I know its bad $ management and practices, but wtf When I lose I get pissed off and want it back asap.

i don't flat bet(i bet some games for more than others) but one thing that i started doing that has helped me(esp. on weekend football and basketball) is I started putting all my bets in for the day at one time in the morning. this has helped me limit my bets and not chase whether winning or losing for the day.

ideally you use the kelly criterion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_criterion

to determine how much to bet on any particular event, basically the bigger the edge the more you bet

but if you dont have have a lot of statistical data to determine your edge

just flat bet or 1-5% of your bankroll on one event

I use a chase system, but only bet to a max. of 6%. I bet every teams home game, start out with .001 %, this is your base... than chase until you can no longer bet. If you go over your 6% bet than the divide most of it among the rest of the teams and earn it back that way.
