Question Who is the Best Manager in Baseball?

You have a team, you get one guy to manage your squad, a current manager, who do you take?

Joe Maddon for me, he gets alot out of his players, especially the young ones. Seems like he's be the type of guy that would be fun to play for, a guy that I'd give my all for 162 games a year.

Close 2nd to Mike Scoiscia of the Angels. Also like Leyland but can't imagine he'll be in the game much longer.

Gardenhire, year in and year out, is the best though I am biased

The lineups he has had to put out this year would have struggled in AAA. The streak they are on now is a testament to how good he is.

Maddon is up there also

I love the Tigers and love Jim Leyland. Some others do not like him but I think he is great and does a nice job and is one of the top managers in the game. I also like Gardy, and Gibson is going to have a nice career coaching..

Usually these types of questions are no brainers but this one kind of hard. I think probably 5 of the top 6 managers are in the AL.

Love the AL Central managers - Leyland, Gardenhire & Ozzie. Plus throw in from the East - Maddon and Joe Girardi, probably underrated as a manager - he just wins.

Scoscia deserves love too.

In NL the only guy I think is in conversation is LaRussa but he over manages and might be overrated

I've always admired Scoscia and his style of managing. Watching him catch during his playing days was a clinic for me on catching. Guy just seems to get alot out of his players and the hands he is dealt with personeel wise.

Gardenhire for sure would be up there for me. I love Ozzie, but I'm not sure I'd want him to be the manager for my team...bench coach though- absolutely. Gaining more respect for Maddon with the personnel losses he's endured and playing in the toughest division in baseball.

As much as I LOVE the Red Sox I can't honestly say that Francona would seriously be in the discussion or for that matter Gerardi, Joe Torre (during his Yankee run). Out of all the 4 major sports I think we could all agree that MLB managers have the least amount of influence for a team's success. Just seems like a huge advantage when you have a great front office and more importantly, an ownership willing to spend.

Maddon and Gardenhire are the two best managers, in my opinion. They do more with less than anyone else.
