Question Why do movies suck so bad now?

I can't remember a new movie that I really liked. What the heck happened? Is it played out?

because everything is so PC today. look at all the movies back in the 80's that had some sort of sexist, racist, raunchy overtones to it.....you cant make those anymore (with a few exceptions that exploit how bad teenagers are acting now) without some group rallying against you

But seriously I agree with you, don't see anywhere near as many as I used to, quality overall has dropped.

just name most of those 80's classics and you will have your answer. Caddyshack, the national lampoon movies, trading places, coming to america, etc.....pick almost anything from back then and compare it to today and its not even close

it turned from motives that were more pure, to a profit motive

i.e. hancock cutting 30 minutes to get a PG13 rating, originally suppose to be R

i think the obsession with cool CGI effects took over a bit for the last 20 years or so as making something look like it really could/did happen overwhelmed the need to actually have a good story.

In large part it may remain that way but I think viewers are becoming a little bored of just effects.

Movies like Batman the Dark Knight give us a little hope that there are still great fiilms coming out that are both good stories and great effects combined with good acting.
