Why Do You Bet?

I thought about this for a while, finally decided to post it. Why do you bet? There are obviously different reasons but deep down why do you?

For me, it's not the money aspect. I put $50 max online so winning $200 isn't gonna be a life changer. I think i bet because it gives the game more meaning and I like to think I'm right in terms of my sports knowledge.

Also, kinda a second question. Why do you bet the hard games? I pop in the college forum and i see discussions going back and forth about TCU +3 @ Clem. You have valid points for either side, yet at the end of the day people will bet it. and it'll be a tough game. Why bet it? Do you bet the tough games for the rush or do you really feel Side A will win?

Because it makes the games more interesting.I only bet what I can afford to lose.1* is 25 other sports and 50 for foots so no big deal win or lose.

After a couple of years of very small bets ($10-$25) I realized that guessing at things I don't know that well or understand was a waste of time, money and energy.

Now I view gambling as a totally unbiased exercise in making $$$. I could care less who is playing, I don't even care if I get to watch the game. I want to make $$$. So I look for systems and angles that work for me and work to only make $$$.

The big games are often the toughest to pick, not because of a fix but simply because an important game with two good teams is....hard to pick! So I put no emphasis on games on TV. I am just as happy to have 5 bets going but be watching a game I didn't bet on. I'm different I know, but I have found things that work for me.

I bet smaller than most per game because of the sure volume of bets I make. I'm more of an action junkie than anything else.

I`ve been betting for 34 years just to find Cappers Mall! Actually I enjoy the action. It`s a hobby to me, but at times I get burned out and take a break.

Know the feeling Vic. Took two weeks off recently to an Island. I think it gets harder when you get older lol 1) Because of age 2) because stakes get bigger.

Even If I take just a day off from time to time that helps.

I'm a student and I gamble for some sort of an income.

Poker becomes such a ****ing grind after a while. I bet sports all year round but I put more focus into it when I'm feeling burnt out from poker.

Up 30K USD for the year. Currently have a little over 20K online.

I need to put a massive amount of time into improving my poker game or turn into an emotionless robot. Too lazy for the first option too volatile for the second.

**** my life

Did your brother show you the way to gambling? I know my brother did. Actually not entirely true. A mate that i used to work with introduced me to horses. We used to take the winnings to the Casino and head out to the Strip Clubs afterwards. Good times.

I thought I was going to be a millionaire when I was 18 betting the ponies. I can tell some sick bad beat stories but who can't. I haven't laid much action this year. I find myself questioning the integrity of the sport at the moment but if a few photo finishes went my way I could be up 100K.
