McALESTER — A Wister man charged with raping and sodomizing a 5-year-old girl has been sentenced to one year in prison. Yet, Child molestation is not only a law that carries a strong push of public and moral policy behind it, but Oklahoma is now one of the few states in the country that has approved the death penalty for child molestation in certain situations. So, why only a year?

i find it hard to believe that a year for sodomizing a FIVE YEAR OLD is really the story. if it is, then i really don't know what to think

so more or less, rape, especially of a 5 year old child, is a misdemeanor?

it was a 20 year sentence with 19 of the years suspended, so 1/20th of the sentence is being served because he took a plea?

if he doesn't get killed in jail, he'll be right back at it a year from now and sadly, he'll probably be killing by then as he'll not want to leave any witnesses and prison will only make him a more sick man.

didnt read the article but the only thing i can think of is that they didnt have shit for evidence and there was a good chance if it went to trial he would get off all together...if this isnt true someone should sodomize the judge

Not so much the judge but the prosecutors. Lazy bastards should have kept working to get a solid case and put the guy away not cut a plead deal.
