wifi interference website

Friend was telling me about a site where you download and the program tells you whether there is any wifi interference for your location for your wireless network.
He can't remember what its called. Anyone familiar with a good website that can do this? (would be a big help to me right now).

LOL, Dave dont take it personal but i crack up everytime i see you post a tech related question. Is NZ really that far behind the times in terms of technology?

There a million of these things out there. pretty cheap too.

here is a cheap one:

Amazon.com: Kensington WiFi Finder Plus: Electronics

Cant recommend any because i never used one.

I personally use my phone to detect wifi signals, its not as thorough as one of these devices but it will find the ones that have the strongest signal...

Almost all new phones are wifi enabled, so they will detect signals.

If you believe you're running into problems, one thing you can try is changing the wireless channel. Assuming your operating in the 2.4 GHz spectrum, one can expect several things to interfere with various devices. This can sometimes be easily remedied by changing the wireless channel you're using. For example my cordless phone was intermittently interfering with my wireless connections. I changed from the default channel of 6 (varies by device) to 11. Problem fixed. Hope this helps.

Yeah. Well, I design wireless networks at work so I bought it with the company credit card . It helps figure out placement of APs and channel numbers. What's crazy is when you have that thing running and you turn on a microwave oven -- talk about interference!!
