Wills/Living Wills/Power of Attorney

Quetion......who have you guys used to prepare these for you? Anyone used an on-line site before to do it yourself for a smaller fee rather then an attorney?

I used Legalzoom.com for my divorce and it was great...they provide these services also.. Their paperwork costs are as follows....

Wills...$69

Living Wills...$39

Power of Attorney...$35

Any thoughts from those that have had these done...or JBlaze/Keith that are lawyers(not sure what type though)

Are all 3 necessary or in the Will can you list out the other stuff???

Peace

what more should I say BP. Do-it-yourself is not the way to prepare binding documents that will have a huge effect on your property and your medical care and treatment. It should not cost a tremendous amount of $$ to find a local Maryland attorney to do it the right way for you. Every state's laws are different. Mad-libs fill-in-the-blanks generic forms are not the way to go here.

What if you have very very little family....basically its me and my son with everything being left to him only...all i need is someone to take care of his interests until hes 18...

thats why i asked...i do see what you are saying though but not concerned about my minimal family involvement

appreciate your opinion though...

zoom was right on point for our divorce papers though..just saying

you are fortunate you were able to do your divorce that way. The overwhelming majority just don't go that way.

A trust is generally a much better instrument than a will for disposing of property. Powers of attorney are not the best instrument for medical decisions, I suggest appointing a health care proxy.

Finally, agree with Keith, go see a lawyer. $1500 bucks can go a long way to ensure your taken care of.

when you say trust...are you referring to a living trust or is that something different?

does this trust basically cover all of the above(will, living will,etc..)?

Here's a good re-marriage will storey 4 u

Had an uncle , married , 2 kids ,
got divorced after the kids were about 27,29 on their own.

About 5 yrs later meets another divorced woman , 1 prior child .

So they stay mrried about 4 yrs b4 he passes on
She goes 1 yr later

His will was 1/3 to my one daughter ,
1/3 to my 2nd daughter ,
1/3 to My 2nd wife + hers ..

Now the Daughter of 2nd wife is trying to claim since he was
married to her mother ,
even tho she hardly ever saw him ,visited
because they were married , she/ should get all..

I'm not a lawyer , don't know the laws
but its been negotiating between lawyers 4for 2 years now ..

My Father try to tell her there's not much in his estate ,
if we keep fighting the lawyers get paid you and I get little to nothing.

lol
