Wireless Help

we just set up a wireless network here and my card is not picking up that there is a wirless connection available...we tried another lap top and it shows that there is a wireless connection available...i was at a bar that had a wireless connection and it could not pick it up there either...but at other locations like airports or my school, it shows that there is a wirless network available...can someone tell me why some places it picks up a wireless connection and others it doesnt? what can i do? thanx!

if its the same protocal 802.11g it should come up, if its like a tmobile hot spot it would take a proprietary card to connect, any wi-fi enabled network should pick it up if your using a standard card, wireless software is not so good on pc's and can be unreliable, so that could be it too, get a mac, i wonder why people like dealing with all these cpu problems, i guess cause these crappy pc's u folks use are like 300 bucks, but shyt just spend 1500 and get a cpu that works and you will be much happier and spend much less time cleaning the drive, maintaining, fixing and all that other crap you guys like to deal with,

i hate my wireless connection that we have here at my house this linksys shit is always loosing its proper signal.and i have to fix it...all the time

um okay..thanx for all that...but it did not really give any troubleshooting

problem solved...the zero configuration utility was turned off...i turned it on and now i am wireless
