Working out/lifting

Interested in seeing how many people lift or workout here and if people have suggestions or tips. I started at the beginning of the year because I found out I had high cholesterol. Was weird to me at first because I am only 22. So I started working out and lifting to try and get it down. I also started watching what I ate. I try to avoid fatty foods and foods with a lot of salt because I read salt can raise it up. Anyways, heres my workout.

Legs:

Leg Extensions X 3
Leg Press X 3
Leg Curls X 3

I dont do squats because they dont have a pad for your shoulders

Biceps/Triceps:

Standing Bicep Curls X 3
Tricep Dip X3
Triceps Pulldown X 3
Sitting Curl X3
Hammer Curls X3

Chest/Back:

Bench Press X3
Shoulder Press X3
Chest Press X3
15 Pushups X3
Sitting Back Row X3

And I always start out with a 10-12 ride on the bike and end with a 10-12 minute ride on the bike. Again, Im really not trying to get big or build that much muscle, just trying to stay in shape and lower my cholesterol. Anyways, figured it would be interesting to see who worksout here.

And my suggestion is, try working out and going on a diet. I used to eat lots of junk food and what not, and now I try to get in fruits and veggies along with the no fat or low fat foods. It really starts to feel good and you will be a lot happier within a month. And go get your blood checked, because like I said, I am 22 and found out I have high cholesterol

I like to get in a long jog in the morning and lift at night. Started getting a lot stronger when I focused on only one muscle group per day (about 12-21 sets depending on the muscle group) and follow up with a whey protein and dextrose shake after lifting for fast recovery and gains.

Ya, Im really not sure if I want to lift to get big yet. I gotta see how the cholesterol thing goes first, then maybe I will. Not sure about shakes/mixes as well

When I worked out with a trainer to lower my weight (it was three months of hell and I stopped doing it lol), but start the work out with a 5 min bike. This gets the blood pumping. Then did chest on Mondays, legs on Tuesday, off Wednesday, arms on Thursday, and back on Friday. I did the diet thing of eating 6 small meals a day and it was good for a while, but sometimes you just need pizza and wings lol.

I work out 3-4 times per week, I only do 3-4 stations each time and i increase my weight or reps eh time on each station. I also play raquetball a couple of times a week for my cardio becuase I cant stand the machines. It really relaxes me and helps me unwind

I go every other day, used to lift 6 days a week until i realized its not good, lol.

BUt i do 3 diff workouts.

Day 1 Chest and Triceps
Day 2 Biceps/Forearms/Back
Day 3 Lats/traps/shlds

Do about 3 diff exercises for every muscle, about 6 exercises each lift which gets me about 24-27 sets or about 1 1/2 hrs.

Dont do legs cause I run and bike everyday for about 45 minutes.

Just try to cut out the fat and keep active and youll be fine, esp at 22.

Never tried lunges, but will definitely consider. I just did legs yesterday. I usually try to workout 5 days a week, but sometimes shit happens and it doesnt work. I usually try to keep active during the TV commercials as well.

It was a combination of a lot of things. Excess drinking, eating unhealthy, too much junk food, not enough exercise/activity. But I definitely feel better now that I started to excerise and watch what I eat. I also cut down on drinking.

But like Walk said, sometimes you need pizza and wings.
