It seems like just yesterday Jerry Yang was taking down the 2007 World Series of Poker.

Another year has passed us by, and the 2008 World Series of Poker is scheduled to start on May 29th.

The first "event" of the World Series of Poker will be a one-day Mega Satellite to the main event that will take place on May 29th. The first "bracelet" event will begin on May 30th, when the $10k Pot Limit Hold'em Championship gets underway.

Are you planning on playing some WSOP events this summer? Time to stop procrastinating, and time to start getting organized.

If you are planning on qualifying online for the World Series of Poker main event, there are still plenty of opportunities to do so. In addition to all of the daily and weekly qualifiers, some "big" poker rooms will be offering massive one-day satellites to the Main Event.

Full Tilt Poker is holding a 150 Seat Main Event Guarantee on Sunday, June 15th. To buy-in to the tournament directly will cost you $535, or you can qualify through a myriad of different satellites and single table SNG's.

As always, Pokerstars is offering many different ways to qualify for the Main Event. This year, they are guaranteeing that at least 2k seats will be won for the Main Event. You can qualify through Pokerstars via FPP tournaments, rebuys, freezeouts, Step tournaments, etc.

If you are looking to live in Las Vegas for the entire summer, the good news for you is that the Vegas real estate market is absolutely tanking and you should be able to secure a great deal for a two month rental. There are hundreds of attractive short-term rental units on the market in Vegas right now, and the owners of these units are ready to make a deal. Living in a hotel room for two months can be a bit of a grind - renting a nice house, with a pool and a backyard, with some of your friends can be a much more attractive option.

Four Daily WSOP Seat Giveaway Qualifiers at Bodog

The poker team at Bodog Poker is getting ready for the World Series of Poker and Bodog players can win a trip to the World Series of Poker at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada during May 29th and July 16th, 2008.

Bodog is running four WSOP Seat Giveaway Qualifiers every single day in the month of May! These qualifiers will begin at 3 a.m., 9 a.m., 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET. The buy-in is only five Bodog Poker Points which means that every new signup gets 10 free tries at a WSOP seat!

Each tournament caps at 5,000 players and the top 25 will be invited to participate in the WSOP Seat Giveaway Finale that will be hosted on June 7. The first place finisher of each qualifier will also receive T$29 to participate in a “Main Event Cheap Seat” tournament.

not sure if i'll go or even can go and play... however i played 2 ME Qualifer already, busting as 5th (3 packages)... now i kinda lost the interest in playing further qualifers

my brother missed it by 1 place last year...i got 4th in a massive free roll of like 4k and 2 seats were awarded to the tournament in aruba...sux ass for sure grinding that long and getting fricking squatt

mine was 655 entrants, 55$ no rake... for 12k package... but well, i was pretty lucky the entire tourney, hitting like a stud... and in the end i got my only bad beat by the chipleader who did a very unreasonable move... happens... but it's not like i got the feeling that i really want to play WSOP... i am a bad poker player would be fun participating once... but buying in myself? dunno, prolly not.

the aruba one i would have played in...but the wsop if i won a seat...no way...i would sell my seat

Several years back I made Aruba my goal, I really wanted to go. Was in a qualifier...getting close to making it. I did pretty much what we had discussed earlier overplayed aces against the chip leader. Made a triple raise he called in the big blind...flop was like 2 5 8 rainbow or something like that, went all in, he call with like 5 8 I think (was awhile ago) and I was out.


Very stupid play against the chip leader, no Aruba for me. I did learn from it (I hope)
