Worst Calls In Sports History

What you got?

In 1985 the St. Louis Cardinals were on the verge of clinching their 10th World Series title, leading 1-0 in the ninth. Denkinger called Orta safe despite the fact that pitcher Todd Worrell, covering first, clearly beat him to the bag. The Royals rallied for two runs to tie the series, then blasted the Cards in Game 7. Denkinger now supports instant replay.

That ump should be fired, clearly wanted to get out of there.

completely agree. what made me so made about it, is that they clearly just wanted to go home. missing a call is one thing, but intentionally blowing a call is another.

Terrible call. Should be fired already.

Hellen Keller could have made that call

when the raiders got screwed at foxboro on the supposed brady pump. brady was hit and fumbled, but the refs gave the ball back to the pats. instead of the raiders having the ball deep in pats territory, the pats drove for the winning score.

the old rule in the nfl was an offensive player couldnt tip the ball to a teammate. thus the immaculate reception is questionable. the phone for the refs to upstairs was behind the raider bench. the call was in question and the ref came to the phone. one of the raiders said the ref asked upstairs how many security guards were on the field. he didnt hear the reply, but there werent many. the next question was how many people were in the stadium. 80,000+ were there. the ref said touchdown.

I know people on that unp crew personally and can tell you they received death threats among other things and it wasn't the whole crew

One thing though, umps back them 100% better and moe reasonable than what we have now. Now they think they are the game
