Would a MAJOR point-shaving/gambling scandal cause you to stop betting?

Im not talking something like the NBA where it was determined that one or two refs were involved, or something like Toledo where it was a few players.....but if there was a MAJOR league-wide system that conspired to control the outcome of games and plenty of evidence to support the fact that the games were not played on the level, would you still bet that sport?

Could anything the athletes, coaches, or officials do cause you to stop capping and betting certain sports?

In the case of the nba ref, he was a little convincing when he said that league higher ups would ask that kobe and other stars get the foul calls. That has made me distance myself from watching. I will bet on a total here and there but could care less about the nba. Last year Jeff Fisher and Jack Del Rio said that espn asked them to use time outs at the end of a game, so that they could squeeze in more commercials. I can't imagine that espn didnt have the leagues permission to do so. That alone could determine a back door cover or a game going over that other wise shouldn't.

I still think that most (myself included) are stubborn enough to think they can beat the fix and it would business as usual....especially if its a sport like football....

I think it may affect a few but most people always will think they can beat the odds. No matter what I think people will always bet Football, basketball and baseball even if it is fix.

I bet the Washington Generals for a couple years in the 90's . Didn't hear about any scandals or fixes but there were some fishy games I tell you.

Would it not stop you guys because you think you can beat the fix, or because you just want to bet no matter what?

How about in an individual sport like tennis, whixh has had match fixing issues....does the integrity of the game keep anyone from betting on it?

Tennis: Austrian get life ban for match-fixing - Worldnews.com

its is stories like this that would make me leery of betting on a sport, or trying to cap a sport, in which there isnt wall-to-wall reporting on whether the games are being played on the up and up.....but if the same thing can happen in the NBA, maybe I am being selective in which sports I trust and which I dont....

I kindof think if it was nfl football we would probably be leery b/c of the focus on it. We've seen a little in the nba & mlb, so I don't think most would bat an eye.
