Why do U.S. companies relocate their plants overseas, thereby abolishing U.S. jobs? (a) they can hire workers at very low wages (such as 30 cents an hour in China), (b) the companies don't have to pay any employee benefits, (c) they don't have to comply with safety and environmental regulations, (d) they don't have to pay foreign taxes when they export their products back to us.
Corporations located in the United States pay big U.S. corporate income and property taxes. It does a lot for their bottom line when they move to a foreign tax-free utopia.
Foreign governments do tax corporations, but if the company exports its products to the U.S. (or other countries), the foreign government rebates (forgives) the tax. That creates an irresistible magnet to attract U.S. companies to transfer their plants to a land where they can avoid most of both countries' taxes.
I guess it really comes down to our greedy government.

I have to agree with you on the fact that the only way for America to get back to better days, which I doubt it will anytime soon, is to take lower paying jobs and not live outside or means. I have always lived pretty humbly. I don't own much so the down turn didn't hurt me much other than me being unemployed. But there are so many that got caught up in credit and living outside ones means that it has buried them. As long as I have a roof over my head and some food in my belly then I am fine. People have too much shit anyway.

This is so true. I understand why people want them (unions, benefits, pensions, etc etc) but they are literally bankrupting our country.

Example, my 54 year old uncle just retired from working for the Govt for like 30 years. God bless his heart, he is one of my best friends and I love the guy to death so this is nothing personal. I feel I have to say that cuz if he saw me write this he'd probably be pissed but oh well.

Anyways, he has risen the ranks and has been making like $125,000/yr the last however many years. Nice good living for sure. Not baller or anything but a nice 125k/yr income, full benefits, etc etc. So he retires and he is now getting 90% of his regular pay FOREVER. Again, AWESOME for him but lets do a little math.

Lets say he's getting 100k/yr forever (its actually a little more but lets use 100K to make it easy). Thats forever, if he lives 30 more years or 2 more years he gets it till the day he dies.

So $100,000/yr for him. Lets say there are ONLY 1000 retired federal employees of this nature in our country (which Im sure there are FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR more). Thats $100 MILLION dollars/yr to just these 1000 people. Think about that, 100 Million/yr to a bunch of people literally doing absolutely nothing.

How many of these people are there??? 25,000? 100,000?? I mean I really dont know but its a hell of a lot more than 1000. Say its 5000 (which is still ridiculously low imo), thats 500 million dollars/yr!!!! Now I know these people got taxes and such taken out of their checks for years but in no way have they "earned" this kind of money.

And this is just one aspect of one group of the govt. We cant pay a friggen school teacher over 30K but we can pay a guy 100k/yr to sit on his ass for 30 years. Its just insane

My father owns a rather large trucking brokerage company. He has 100s of guys working "thru" him but literally only 6-8 employees that are on a weekly pay. He has one guy who is in his late 50's early 60s and he provides health benefits for this gentleman and has been doing so for about 5 years. The guy is basically a $500/week guy and the benefits started out costing my father about $300/month 5 years ago. Well as of last month it is now $1000/month, $1000/month for a guy who makes $500/week!!!! How the hell do you stay in business when you have to pay $1000/mo for a $500/week employee!!!!

Its just sickening and theres no end in sight

Sorry if some of this was a ramble, Im typing this and trying to watch the game, but this stuff is a big pet peeve of mine.

One more thing about unions. I had a friend who got in an argument with his boss and got 1 month paid off for "stress." ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Time off PAID for stress?? Who isnt stressed???

It was all set up ages ago for the right reasons but unfortunately the lazy american has just found ways to exploit it and now its a punchline
