If you are not mature enough to participate in this valuable discussion please do not comment in this thread. This goes for both sides of the debate.
Let’s assume that every person either keeps records or doesn’t with no bad intentions for this discussion. Let’s discuss why it’s beneficial to the forum when you keep YTD records. Let’s discuss any positives or negatives like mature adults. This can be a very good discussion. Leave the crap out of it!

I think it's a plus IMO. It can only help those who come here and follow/tail people as to see who is hot or not.
It also eliminates some people from beating their chest like a drum about how great they are even though they may suck. Newbies will see the chest pounding and figure they are telling the truth and tail them even though they are full of crap. Thanks Jack for reposting my question

Many people come to Cappers Mall that we never hear from because they are not registered members. Additionally, we have many members who are virtually silent and seldom post. The primary reason that the Mall gets this traffic is because this silent (or at least quiet) majority are here to gain insight on sports wagering and to get a take on what people are doing on a variety of games in multiple sports.
In my opinion, if a member regularly posts picks, it is a tremendous benefit if the poster makes a little extra effort and post an accurate record as well. This gives everyone a way to judge how well the poster does over time and to form an opinion about the effectiveness of his or her handicapping. I understand that keeping a record is not mandatory and I also understand that it can be tedious at times but it really does not require much additional effort. Few successful handicappers do not keep track of their wagers even if it is only done privately. Why post your picks at all if you are not going to let the rest of the members have a better idea of how you are doing over the course of the season? Just my two cents . . . . .

OK, let's try this again.
My view is simple. People have the right to post whatever they want. If someone wants to post record, fine, if someone wants to add in units as well, fine, if they don't want to do anything, that is fine with me as well. I think that it should be a non-issue, I have decided to post my record, units, and top play record and units so that anyone who follows me knows exactly what is going on. I don't do it for me, I just do it because I know that some people tail me at times and I want them to be able to see. I also think that anyone who continuously jumps into threads calling cappers liars because they don't like how they post records need to be dealt with. It happened all too often last season and caused a lot of fighting. I would like this to be handled by the mods as issues come up. Because, really, when it comes down to it, how people keep records is none of anyone's business except the capper who is keeping the record. Oh, one more thing, last year we saw examples of people keeping records, but then being called liars because they forgot to add something to the record or just hadn't logged on in a while and didn't update in what some thought was a timely manner. It happened to me once when I was in Greece and wasn't on the computer for a day, things like this need to be avoided as well.

it does help people if we track records as BP and The Judge have posted. We should remember that we aren't here to judge other people on their records alone though. I myself have not posted my plays here in a long time. I use this place to keep myself updated and to have some fun. THis place breaks a lot of sports news that keeps my up to date. I love the debates we get into here as well.
This said if people are going to post regularly (thier plays) i am all for a record of ytd.

I'll tell you this as a poster. Keeping a record takes up way too much time, especially in bases. I dont care how good or bad my record is, its not worth the time it takes to keep it updated. I pay R_Double_R to keep track of all of my records. I suggest everyone outsource this task. The only thing to records here at Cappersmall. IF YOU ARE GOING TO KEEP A RECORD, MAKE SURE IT IS ACCURATE. For anything else, if they dont want to keep a record and you dont like it. DONT LOOK at THEIR THREADS..
