in an attempt to be positive and see a silver lining in last nights defeat.......
because of the 8-8 finish and final standing in the East the Cowboys get Chicago and Seattle next year instead of San Fran and Green Bay (which they would have been scheduled to play if they won last night)

Cowboys need to clean house. Here are 10 players/positions that need to get their act together or go. No particular order, but the top 4 are huge problems. Im not even a Cowboy fan, but living in Dallas I obviously watch all of their games.
1. Newman - dude has no heart and thinks he is so much better than he is. Dude your not Deon, get over it already. This guys was burned over and over again and was a primary reason this defense and secondary were so poor. 2. Spencer - Dude has only 21.5 sacks in his career, with Ware on the other side getting doubled teamed multiple times. Enough said, the guy is horrible. 3. Sensabaugh - how many times can one safety be out of position. This team constently blows coverages and he is a primary reason. His judgement and play on the ball is horrid. Example the two big plays Cruz made. The 48 yard bomb he was so late and so out of position. The 5 yrad out Cruz took the the house, his angle was horrible and just a bad play. 4. Free - Did they really give this guy top dollar?? Boy, nice thank you from him. He has been burnt over and over again and leads the team in penalties. They need to keep him obviously but they need him to play alot better. 5. Miles - If he had more targets and was not injured I am almost sure he would lead the league in drops. In two years he went from the #1 WR to the #3 WR, being beat out by a waiver wire pickup mid season. Obviously another one they nee dto keep but he needs to step up his game big time. Maybe it was the Kardashian curse as he has not been the same since he thought he was Hollywood! 6. Dez - All the talent in the world physically but he is a mental midget. His pattern running is pathetic. The guy is never wide open because his pattern running is so bad. Every catch he makes has to almost be a great one becaus ethe defender is always right next to him. He is much better than 3 catches a game for 55 yards and a TD. Also, he takes plays off. He goes out into the pattern and makes no effort. This guy needs some serious mentoring. 7. Spears/Coleman/Hatcher - the invisible men!! These guys do nothing. I know DE's in a 3-4 scheme are not highlight machines but these guys are never even mentioned. Heck a 7th round pick (Lissemore is 10x better than any of these guys). They provide zero value or toughness. They take no pressure off Ware because teams do not even need to account for them. 8. Brady James - Who?? was even playing this year?? Way to make plays!! 9. Elam - nice pickup!! OK he knew Ryans system but he cannot make any plays. What was the point? 10. Coaches - both Garrett and Ryan failed immensly this year. Garrett's first full year but he made many mistakes and did not improve this team at all from last year. Ryan, enough said. he is all talk.

sharp stuff there......
You had at me at Newman lol I agree with you about Spencer too......the guy has had one solid season a couple of years ago and outside of that he is just going through the motions.......The only thing about Free is he will be on the right side next year as I am sure they will move Smith to the blind side.....That will hopefully make him more effective........Never like Spears either, glad someone else noticed lol......You are right about Elam too, guy did nothing but hell, nobody in this secondary did really. I think Jenkins (when healthy) is pretty solid but he can be inconsistent too. Miles and Dez both need to go see Chris Carter this offseason and get coached up.

Quote:
Not only did Garrett not improve this team from past year, but they got worse. They did replace a lot of guys, but when you look at it the offensive line ended up actually being an IMPROVEMENT over the group that was here the last 3 seasons. They also upgraded their Safety's, and were the healthiest they have been in THREE to FOUR YEARS.... Yes... YEARS. So what excuse can you have for taking the team a step back. Couldn't even make the playoffs in a year where the NFC was the WORST it has been in YEARS too. If your a homer, and want to blame it on a team having to adjust new coaches that is about the only valid argument. Even with that Garrett already ran the offense in years past anyways so your only looking at the big change in Defensive Coordinator... which was Wade's job, and everyone wanted him gone. So what is the excuse... seriously ? I was never really surprised about Miles... After he blew up I was always cautious to just give him the nod as a dominant receiver like some people. You just have to perform more than one season, and when defense's key on you things are a bit different. On the flip side you have Dez which your criticism's are very legit, but I do think he will develop into one of the more more dominant receivers in the league. His route running will have to improve a little, but the raw talent this guy has is just too huge. I think we will see Free move back to his RT spot where is was solid. They are probably going to want to move Smith to LT.... Man if there was a bright spot to this season it sure was Smith. A kid who was a question mark for many scouts ended up being one of the better tackles in the NFL. Next year is still going to be a stretch as far as adding players or trading, because I think we will still be in a bit of cap trouble... which is why earlier this year I really thought this team was in a "mini-rebuild" and about 2-3 years out... Which is really unfortunate, because Romo/Ware are two players who don't come along very often and happen to be in their prime. I use to foolishly stick up for Jerry here, and there.. but its clear that is one thing I was very wrong about. He really has made some big mistakes. Jenkins had a solid bounce-back year after that huge slump he had the season before so that is also a big positive. Scandrick has also had some flashes of brilliance... it wouldn't be out of the question for him to develop into a solid starter with a full offseason as a starter. Or we are able to draft a stud at CB, and he becomes a very solid slot guy... which we all know in today's NFL is like GOLD to have. Going to have to look to stock the defense somehow. Corner... Safety... Defensive linemen. I think all of those groups are equally important so we should be able to grab a "can't miss" prospect at one of those positions.

Yes, I am sure they will definitely move Free back to the right side which should help. I thought Jenkins played really well this year and he was the sole bright spot for the secondary. Is only problem is he cannot make a tackle or play without getting hurt. I have never seen a player get so many minor injuries. Seriously, it seems like every play he makes he gets soe type of injury. Props to him though as he always comes back in. Very nice bounce back year for Jenkins.
Oh and drop Stephen Mcgee this off season. He is not an NFL QB nor a backup. Whether it is preseason or when they need him during the season the offense is completely stagnent under him. Trying grooming another QB if you eventually are looking for the eventual Romo replacement. The offense was solid this year, but if they can sure up the Oline and get Dez and Miles to improve, that offense could be dangerous with the running game they can have with Murray.
