Double Eye Patch Night.

Should be..

PNC Parks Next Fan Promotion give away..

There should be calls to fire John Russell and Neal Huntington, what's the point? Hit the franchise reset button again? Start on another new five-year plan? Really there's no GM and manager combination in baseball history that could help this team under this ownership regime.

The rotation is a complete Nightmare, leads into an overworked and therefore under-performing bullpen. The team ERA is 7.74, so unless the Pirates are putting up eight a game, they're probably not winning.

People will slander that it's still April, but the Pirates don't have the luxury of that excuse, with 0 credibility with fans. This is not the Bo Sox, who will eventually turn around their season, and if not, just spend enough to turn it around.

Lets go Bucs

The Pirates are on the verge of the one-month anniversary of their most recent home run with a man on base.

No kidding.

It came June 8 in Washington, against phenom Stephen Strasburg...........

The Pirates' Garrett Jones hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning this afternoon at PNC Park, ending the team's streak without a multiple-run home run at 1,097 at-bats.

It was the longest such streak in Major League Baseball since the 1984 Houston Astros went 1,252 at-bats.

One steak gone.........

Here's an excerpt from sportsbusinessdaily.com: Pirates Owner Bob Nutting "likes the notion" of a salary cap in MLB, but "does not want to agitate his peers from big-market teams by demanding change," according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW. Nutting: "There's been a lot of talk this offseason on getting a salary cap in baseball, and I think it would be beneficial to the Pirates. But our primary focus is not to push for a cap.If the commissioner decides a salary cap is the right system in 2012, of course we'll be supportive. A salary cap is a rational economic system for professional sports. But it is not a savior." Nutting added the Pirates "are not concerning ourselves with the concept." Nutting: "The most important issue for our club is to execute better and continue to make progress on our plan that we began two years ago in building a fundamentally different organization."
