Adjusting for level of competition
Can anyone show me how to adjust a statistic for the level of competition?
For example, assume that the Washington Redskins have an average yards per pass attempt of "X" after 5 games. How do we adjust that stat based on the stats of the teams that the Skins have played? I am a little slow so I need the adjusting routine spelled out, hopefully with an example and/or a reference. Any help or ideas will be appreciated. |

there are likely several ways you could do this, it would have to be dynamic and adjust weekly
a simple way would be rush per attempt vs what that defense allows per attempt, and track the delta personally think youll find it not so advantageous..when you are talking the nfl, and not college football it will usually regress to the mean because the level of competition isnt so different from team to team
