Create your own -1 line, apply to bases & hockey

Baseball and Hockey tip

in this example the White Sox are offered at -132 and -1.5 +164

White Sox (-132)
White Sox -1.5 (+164)

Your book isnt offering a -1 line, which would give you a push in the case the White Sox win by one.

There is a way to create this scenario however...

Many times even if your book is offering the -1 line...this method will give you a 2 cent advantage on the book.

A certain percentage of the play will be placed on both the ML and the -1.5 run line...

To figure out how much to bet on the ML, do this.

Take 100/ML= x
Add 1 = (x +1)
Take 100 and divide by (x +1)
= the % to put on the ML

the remaining % is placed on the -1.5 run line

taking the example from above..

White Sox (-132)
White Sox -1.5 (+164)

Take 100/132=.7576
Add 1 = 1.7576
Take 100 and divide by 1.7576.
=56.90

Bet
57% at -132 to win $43.11

and the remaining amount on the RL

Bet 43% at -1.5 (+164) to win $70.70.

If White Sox win by 1, you break even, just like any -1 line.

If they win by 2 or more, you win 113.8%

Hence we created a White Sox -1 +114 line

Just to add to this for those of you that use a local and dont want to bet 43% on one bet and 57% on the other you can just average out the 2 figures and youll get a close estimate of what the -1 odds will be.

Difference of -32 to +64 would be 96 and half of that is 48 or +116 if added evenly to both sides.

Another easy example would be a home team who is -200 or -110 RL

Difference here is 90 or -1 -155. Sort of gorilla this way but I have done this using a local in the past who still graded his action by hand.

Helpful thread<tup>

I have an excel file that runs through this for you, but I don't see the little paper clip to attach it. No big deal, there are plenty of them around.

I didn't even realize. I'm around on a bunch of the forums so it shouldn't be hard to find me. My NFL db is shit right now, so I'd be interested in a possible trade for that one.
