That USC team, cheaters that they were, was one of the best of all time. ND was a couple seconds away from snapping their 28 or something game undefeated streak in the famous "Bush push" game and playing for the national title.

the 2004 USC team was essentially the same on offense but with a much better defense, than the 2005
Texas did not beat the best USC team of the decade nor did ND come close to sorry but the best Trojan team was the year prior

 This is the year everybody thought Auburn got a raw deal, and Cal laid an egg against TT in some non BCS bowl after being snubbed for a major bowl
