Chris Schultz On The Grey Cup Game

6:30 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011
Winnipeg @ B.C. Schultz Picks: B.C.:
------------------------------------

After 72 regular season games, two semi-final games and two final games, there is only one game left: the 2011 Grey Cup from Vancouver.

This will be the 99th Grey Cup played, which is something to think about with the 100th edition only a year away. Like many who follow football, you can associate different aspects of your life in November with the Grey Cup game.

One thing I can guarantee is this year's game will look great. What they have done with BC Place Stadium has helped to make a football game or any sport a spectacle as much as a competition. This year's Grey Cup visuals will be outstanding.

Who will win? Sometimes I think B.C with Travis Lulay, Geroy Simon, a very aggressive and effective defensive line and a team that has won 11 of their last 12 games. When you add in the fact they're playing in front of a sold-out crowd in a stadium with a 'volume advantage' because of the crowd, B.C. should win the Grey Cup.

But, sometimes I think Winnipeg. If you can play in the brutal cold of CanadInns Stadium and win, coming into BC Place Stadium will be easy. Also, Buck Pierce has overcome more adversity than maybe any other quarterback and you know he will rise to any challenge.

Then, include the defensive backfield with Jonathan Hefney and Alex Suber as well as Chris Garrett's ability to rush for 190 yards in the Eastern Final. And correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Winnipeg beat B.C. twice in the regular season with the second win by a convincing margin right in BC Place?

It's true, sometimes I think B.C. will win and sometimes I think Winnipeg will win. Over the course of this week, I will be asked 100 times and maybe more: Who will win? I have to make a decision....

B.C. 30, Winnipeg 24

Through 76 games, Schultz is 45-31.
