Week 5 by Chris Schultz

8:00 PM Thursday, July 28, 2011
B.C. Winnipeg Schultz Picks: Winnipeg:
--------------------------------------

The biggest surprise in the CFL right now is the 4-0 Edmonton Eskimos. But the second-biggest surprise is the 3-1 Blue Bombers. The two teams that finished last in their respective divisions last year are now in first. I am usually influenced by a team that has yet to win, because the pressure is on, but not here. The Bombers defence is too consistent and Buck Pierce is coming off a great game in Week Four. Winnipeg 30, B.C. 22.

Montreal Hamilton Schultz Picks: Montreal:
------------------------------------------

It looks like Anthony Calvillo will be ready to go and will be more focused to get back some of his QB magic after being forced out of last week's game due to injury. I think this game will be a lot closer than anticipated with Hamilton attacking on both sides of the ball, but I just can't see Montreal losing two in a row. Watch Ticats receiver Chris Williams, who is coming off two productive games, to see if he can keep his streak alive. Montreal 27, Hamilton 24.

Toronto Edmonton Schultz Picks: Edmonton:
-------------------------------------------

I can't see the combination of Cleo Lemon and Dalton Bell being as efficient as Ricky Ray. I also can't see Toronto keeping Ray off the field without Cory Boyd to win the time-of-possession battle. What I can see is the Eskimos playing exceptional at the start of the game, winning in the end, and moving to a 5-0 record. Edmonton 31, Toronto 21.

Calgary Saskatchewan Schultz Picks: Calgary:
---------------------------------------------

The single biggest problem with the Stampeders this season has been critical field goal kicking. At 2-2, the team's two losses have come in large part due to three misses against Toronto and two against Edmonton. A lot of positives came from Saskatchewan's win in Montreal last week, including better pass rushing, the play of Hugh Charles and a better effort all around, but it won't be enough. Calgary 28, Saskatchewan 19.

*Through 16 games, Schultz is 8-8.

Sweet! I could be against him on all 4 plays.
Usually a good sign when you are on the other side of the big man...
