Is 2nd Time Lasix a Good Angle?
That's a very good question. I would say if the horse is really bleeding, it's a great angle.
Depending on how cynical you want to be, you can draw any one of the following conclusions from those numbers:
1) The longer a horse races, the more lung damage he/she incurs.
2) Lasix is water soluble and used as a mask for other drugs.
3) Lasix is being given to almost all horses in an attempt by the trainers to negate any advantage real or perceived that a horse receiving Lasix might have
I could tell you a story about Lasix use that would make your head spin. And also make you question the integrity of the veterinarians on the backstretch.
Now that I've made a short question long, if a horse really needs the Lasix, it should become apparent in his races. I prefer to watch the race, not depend on the charted line or the race call. Another factor to consider is whether the horse is also receiving aminocaproic acid (Amicar) for his bleeding
