Aqueduct Price Plays
Courtesy of Mike Dempsey
Here is the opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start: AQU Race 1 Clm $7,500 (12:20 ET) #1 Awedacious Caren 4/1 #7 Valentine Daisy 2/1 #8 Sunnybrook 5/2 #9 Moshe Diane 5/1 Analysis: #1 Awedacious Caren drops back in for a tag after setting the early fractions and fading to finish seventh last out against starter allowance foes at Philly. When this mare gets on her game she is good, having won 7 of 17 career starts and she reeled off four in a row back in '10. She owns solid early and mid pace numbers and draws the rail here. Her lone go on the inner track came two back where she was third for a $14K tag. She should wake up with the class drop. #7 Valentine Daisy returns off a three month break, her last start a fifth place finish against Alw-2 optional claimers. She lands with the exiled Guerrero barn that is 38% winners with newcomers to the barn, but has been icy with his runners here at the inner track meet, currently 0 for 11. The barn hits at a 32% clip with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff. She is jammed into an easier spot here for his return. Wagering WIN: #1 to win at 3/1 or better. EX: 1,7 / 1,7,8,9 TRI: 1,7 / 1,7,8,9 / 1,4,7,8,9 Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct: AQU Race 8 Alw $52,000N1X (3:37 ET) #5 Rebellious Chic 10/1 #7 Good Habits 6/1 #1 Fiddlers Diva 10/1 #8 Gambling Geraldine 7/2 Analysis: #5 Rebellious Chic tracked the early pace and checked in fourth last out, beaten a length and behind a couple of runners she faces again and note she only missed landing second by a nose and a neck. The mare cut back from a mile last out and now gets as key jock switch from Smith to Garcia, who was aboard her when she broke her maiden three back. She can turn the tables here and her 10/1 ML looks more than fair. #7 Good Habits exits the same race as our top pick and she was making her first start off a seven month layoff. She was bumped hard early and raced rank and came up empty in the stretch. She was sent off as the chalk despite the time off and is worth tossing in the mix again today at what is going to be a decent price. Wagering WIN: #5 to win at 9/2 or better. EX: 5,7 / 1,5,7,8 TRI: 5,7 / 1,5,7,8 / 1,5,7,8,11 Today's Featured Race of the Day from Gulfstream Park: GP Race 7 OClm $62,500N2X (3:21 ET) #4 Hailstorm 3/1 #3 Jungle Wave 8/1 #9 Mahubo 5/2 #5 Street Game 5/1 Analysis: #4 Hailstorm makes his first start since last September where he checked in fifth in the 1 1/2 mile Northern Dancer. He has finished in the money in three graded stakes and gets some class relief here for his first start off a 4 1/2 month break. He makes his first start for the Ribaudo barn who takes over from the Casse barn. #3 Jungle Wave faded to finish tenth last out for a $50K tag where the gelding had a tough trip. He had to steady in traffic on both turns and was blocked in traffic in the stretch. The winner and fifth place finisher came out of the race to win next out. The gelding is a Grade 2 winner on turf and may get overlooked on the tote in this spot. Wagering WIN: #4 to win at 5/2 or better. EX: 3,4 / 3,4,5,9 TRI: 3,4 / 3,4,5,9 / 2,3,4,5,9 Live Longshots: These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager. Aqueduct R2: #8 Little Halo 10/1 R3: #5 Nitara 8/1 R4: #8 Aweful Quiet 8/1 R4: #3 Exciting Missile 8/1 R5: #5 La Chiquilina 8/1 R6: #3 Cheers 12/1 R7: #5 Lady of the Forest 8/1 R8: #5 Rebellious Chic 10/1 R8: #1 Fiddlers Diva 10/1 R9: 3 Fall Into Faith 8/1 Good luck today! |
