tough day bc,good luck tomorrow..hey remember you know all these
bets you wagered were win tickets don`t you??

i mean you did $100 win tickets on all 4 of these horses, you don`t know
what it will pay until the results are posted..
but to make it easier for you, every time you do a win ticket on a horse
and that horse does in fact WIN, you take half of your bet and
multiply it by what it pays..

for example in the first race ZIG ZAG ZOOM WON..
IT PAID $9.20.. IF YOU HAD PUT $100 ON HIM TO WIN YOU WOULD`VE
TOOK $50(HALF OF YOUR WIN TICKET)AND MULTIPLIED IT BY $9.20
AND IT WOULD HAVE PAID YOU $460.00..
I`M JUST TRYING TO HELP YOU BRO LIKE I SAID WE DON`T KNOW WHAT
OUR WAGERS WILL PAY UNTIL AFTER THE TRACK FIGURES IT OUT
AND MAKES IT OFFICIAL

I HOPE THIS HELPED YOU BC AND I HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE WEEKEND

TAKE CARE..."AND MAY THE WINNERS BE YOURS!!"

So the odds of 4/1 5/1 or whatever they may be mean nothing? B/C the odds change as they day goes on so I would have thought when you locked it in those were the odds you got. Or do they only apply to certain gambling scenarios?

Everyones does exacta boxes and all these other kind of wagers I only see once a year when i watch the derby, and I dont have a clue how they work. Ive never even been to a track.

I bet football, and occasionaly basketball/hockey/baseball

You know any good sites for horse racing info on how bets/payouts work? Im just doing the contests for fun but I would like to learn more about it.

Thanks for the info.
Much appreciated

the odds made on the "morning line" (which is the first odds made for that race) is setup by the group of people who picked the horses to race. It is what they "think" people will lean towards as far as the horse to be picked based on different things like condition, popularity, post position, etc. They are basically trying to predict what people would like and place those favorable odds on each horse.

As the track race gets closer to start..and people get a chance to view the horses b4 the race and look at past performance and make their actual decision...it may or may not be parallel to what the group thinks people will bet...so the line moves.

A basic way to look at odds is-- the way the person who selected the horses "think" the public will view the "probability" that a certain horse will win.

Hope my opinion helps you a bit...hee...w00t!

For example...a horse 4/1 and another horse 5/1 does not actually mean the 4/1 horse is necessarily better....

But it does mean that the people who selected the horses think the 4/1 horse will be "viewed by the public" as a better horse, and would want to bet on it moreso than the 5/1 horse.

Hope that helps you a bit more.

The only odds that truly count in a particular race is once the race is final...

sometimes so many wagers get placed at the final MTP and the cashiers do not have sufficient time to add them all up...so as the race starts the bets are closed and those extra wagers placed sometimes will move the line a bit more as the race is in progress.

Usually once a race has begun it is seldom seen that odds vary greatly...u might see a 4/1 drop to a 3/1 or so...and most of time when a late scratch has occurred or some horse handicapper guru suddenly mentions the chance of another unthought-of horse winning that every1 rushes to make those last changes.

Maybe with these examples you can see where an odd may change and for what reasons they would.

Thanks jim, but that part i get from other sports betting. Same cocept as book makers with spreads and moneylines all about = $ to secure profit.

But when you place a bet on fooball or other sports the odds you bet at are the ones you get. Example the NYG at one point at Betjam were offered at +400, if you bet at that time those are the odds you get, so say 100 to win 400. But at one point i believe it fell to around +375, so if you bet at that point those are the odds you get, so it would be 100 to win 375.

But with horseracing i took a horse listed at 5/1 that had been listed at 5/2 in the morning. And based on other sports i bet on assumed I would get the horst at 5/1. But you dont acutualy know the payout until the race is over, so is that assumption fully or in someway not correct?

So if i took a horse at 6/1 in the moring and it fell all the way to 1/1 I would not get the 6/1 odds?

Like I said im completely new to this, so any info or direction towards good sites would be appreciated.

Thanks man

bye the way, where you get the 'woot' from? just curious
