April racer - exotics refers to wagers such as exactas, trifectas, etc.... basically anything that is offered on a race other than Win, Place, or Show.

T/B - top and bottom... for example an exacta 1 over 2,3,4 and another exacta 2,3,4 over 1.

april racer... in that example you would play the horse to WPS... if you were going to use $2 as a base unit, It would be $2 WPS = $6 total (a $2 Win bet, a $2 place bet, $2 Show bet). In the exacta, I think bd was implying that you should use that horse with whatever horses you like in the race... or with the ALL button which would give you the whole field... for example in a 7 horse field, that would be 1-ALL or 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 1-7 (6 combinations).

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions!

thank you very much. i think i understand now. one last question? what exotics are there and why are they different on each race. on my book for one race i can do an exacta and a trifecta and the the next one will add daily double. how do parlays work is just like a normal one and they put all the different odds together or is computed different?

Exotics.... every track is a little different as to what is offered and when. Some tracks offer Pick 4 and Pick 6 wagers during the card, otheres offer Rolling Pick 3's and Doubles... some tracks just offer doubles on the first two and last two races. In regards to exactas, trifectas, and superfectas, these are generally based on the number of entrants in a race. Monmouth Park for example has superfecta wagering generally on the 4th and the last races of the day (and/or the feature race should the field have enough runners). If a field slips to 5 entrants or fewer, many tracks will not offer the trifecta wagering on that race. Likewise if a heavy favorite is expected in a short field, show wagering will often not be offered. If you look at the entries section for each track over on the DRF, it will generally tell you what wagering is offered on each race.

Hi AR. Win/Place/Show relies only on the outcome of 1 horse. Exotics rely on the outcome of multiple horses. Exotics are like parlays in sports betting.

e.g. Lets say the first 4 finishers in a race is 5-7-3-1

Exactor: You must pick the first 2 finishers in a race in EXACT order. Therefore, your ticket must have "5 with 7" in order for you to win. If you have "7 with 5", you lose.

Quinella: You must pick the first 2 finishers in a race in ANY order. Therefore, your ticket must have "5 with 7" OR "7 with 5" in order for you to win.

Trifecta or Triactor: You must pick the first 3 finishes in a race in EXACT order. To win a "tri", your ticket must have "5 with 7 with 3"

Daily Double: You must pick the WINNERS in 2 consecutive races on the same ticket.

Pick 3 or Win 3: You must pick the WINNERS in 3 consecutive races on the same ticket.

Pick 6 or Win 6: You must pick the WINNERS in 6 consecutive races on the same ticket.

Of course, the payouts are in accordance with the degree of difficulties. Ask if you have any more questions.

Here are the results of the 2nd race at the big "A".
3 River Officer 9.30 5.30 2.50
1 Great South Bay 8.40 3.00
2 Brave Sir Robin 2.20
4 Treated Wood
EXACTA
Winners:3-1 Minimum:2.00 Price:46.60

QUINELLA
Winners:1-3 Minimum:2.00 Price:29.80

TRIFECTA
Winners:3-1-2 Minimum:2.00 Price:82.50

DOUBLE
Winners:2-3 Minimum:2.00 Price:14.40
