Breaking Down The Derby

Ok, I got this race down to the 6 horses I believe will be in the running....I love this time of the year and hope everyone has a profitable day!!

#2 Musket Man: Winner of the Illinois Derby, this horse has proved he is a winner. Winning 5 of his 6 starts and earning well over a half a million dollars is quite impressive, but people do question his pedigree and if he can go the distance. But I disagree because he proved that he can in the Illinois Derby going 9 furlongs.. If Coa can get a clean trip out of the 2 hole he's a nice horse at a nice price to include in your exotics.

#6 Friesan Fire: Winner of his last 3 races, most currently the Louisiana Derby. This horse comes from fantastic pedigree, A.P. Indy who won Horse of The Year in 1992 who is also son to Triple Crown Legend Seattle Slew, so this horse definitely inherits some stamina and will to win. Posts from the six spot so hopefully he gets a nice trip close to the rail. Has 7 career starts winning 4 and hitting the board in 2 more. Will be a threat.

#7 Papa Clem: Winner of the Arkansas Derby and runner up behind Friesan Fire in the Louisiana Derby this horse has good early speed, but did come from off the pace at the Ark. Derby....He does have Bejarano on him which improves his chances greatly. If he gets the rail with his inside speed he may be your leading horse going around the first turn. Had a morning line of 20-1, but I wont be surprised if this drops...Keep an eye on him

#13 I Want Revenge: He comes from the same pedigree as Friesan Fire, but is son of Stephen Got Even who also happens to be a son of A.P. Indy. He has stamina and speed from top to bottom and in my eyes might be the horse to beat. Has hit the board in all 8 career starts winning 3 times. Has wonderful young jockey on him Joe Talamo who has handled this horse before.

#15 Dunkirk: Son of millionare Unbridled's Song this horse might be the least experienced in this race. Only having 3 starts, he has won 2 and came in 2nd at the Florida Derby. His Trainer, Todd Pletcher has never won the Kentucky Derby in 21 starts, but he does have dangerous Jockey Edgar Prado on him which has me thinking this horse might not win the race but please consider him in exotics. He is a closer and will be coming off the pace

#16 Pioneerof The Nile: Horse really impressed me in the Santa Anita Derby and has the connections with Bob Baffert who has won 3 Kentucky Derby's. Son of Empire Maker this horse is bred for races like this. His dad was the favorite in 2003 but lost to Funny Cide. Maybe he avenges his dad's loss?? Having Garrett Gomez certainly doesnt hurt his chances as that man has been on fire this year and has proven he is one of the nation's top jockeys if not the best. I dont expect this horse to fire out for the lead and should also come from off the pace. Look for him to be up there at the wire

**Other Horses to consider**
#10 Regal Ransom (Dubai Horse which scares me), #5 Hold Me Back, and #12 General Quarters

I have not played anything yet, but these horses will all be included in my wagers.......good luck guys!

Friesan Fire went 5F in 57:80 breezing over the Churchill dirt this morning. Larry Jones is no stranger to fast works the week of the derby. I just wonder what his odds will be tomorrow, I suspect he might go off at around 3-1.
