CM Horse Forum summer contest

I will be running a contest thru the summer for those who want to participate. Jack has offered some weekly prizes(tshirt or visor) and he is also donating a $50 gas card for the contest and I am donating a DVD of Jerry Bailey's Inside Track Volume 2. The winner at the end will get his choice as to which he wants and 2nd place will get the other. I will try to make the contest as simple as possible. Here are the rules...

1. I will post 5 weekend races from various tracks each week. I will try to get these posted each week by Wednesday.

2. Pick the winning horse from as many races as you wish from the 5 posted. Only WIN bets will be used.

3. Standings will be based on ROI, which means you don't have to pick every race if you don't want. Total winnings will not be used to determine the winner. For example: Player A picks 5 races and winners make him $25.00(ROI $5.00) Player B picks 2 races and winners make him $20.00(ROI $10.00) Player B wins. So, you must be selective on your picks.

4. You do not have to select a race every week, however to be eligible for any prize you must make at least 2 selections per week. For the weekly prize this means you have to select at least 2 races to qualify that week. For the overall prize, you must average at least 2 selections per week.

5. The contest will start this weekend and run til the weekend of Aug 15-16. This will be 10 weeks, so to qualify for the overall prizes, you must have at least 20 selections over the course of the contest.

6. I will start a thread each week with the 5 races and all selections will be posted in that thread. There will be NO exceptions to this rule. All other selections made outside of that thread will not count.

7. I will be trying to find Stakes races each week and probably use the NY, Kentucky and Cal tracks mostly. If anyone has any suggestions for certain races each week, feel free to post your suggestions before Wednesday of each week and I will consider them.

Thanks, and hope we get some good participation.

This is tremendous news. Only hope this increases traffic down here more than just the 10 or so usual suspects. Thanks Wabash and Jack

You stated that you have to make at least 2 selections to be eligible for the weekly prize. What happens if your horse is scratched? Does this count as one of the two selections or do you need to be safe and pick three? Thanks for the contest.

Good question Kat. Lets go with this. As long as you make 2 selections for the week, you are eligible for a weekly prize, even if 1 scratches. However, you will only get credit for 1 play for the total contest.

One more thing concerning rules on coupled entries. If you make a selection involving coupled entries, you must state all of the entries that you want. You will not be automatically given the entire entry unless you state it. For example, in todays 4th race at Belmont, there is a 3 horse entry involving Music Note, Seventh Street and Sea Chanter. If you want the entire entry no matter which horse may scratch, post all 3 horses(or 2 if thats the case). If you only post 1 horse from an entry and it scratches, I will assume you did not want the other part of entry since you did not post it with selection. Please ask if you have a question about this...

Suggestions for next weekend:

Woodbine(for Davydave )
Queen's Plate (Sunday)
G3 Highlander Stakes (Sun)
G3 Singspiel Stakes (Sun)
Belmont:
G2 New York Breeders Cup Handicap(Sat)
Colonial:
G2 Colonial Turf Cup(sat)
Hollywood:
G3 Affirmed Handicap(Sat)

Queen's Plate by far the biggest race on a rather uneventful weekend next week
