WIN
You bet on a horse to finish the race first

PLACE
The horse you selected must finish first or second

SHOW
Your horse must finish first, second or third

ACROSS THE BOARD
You are betting win, place and show bets. If your horse wins, you collect on the win, place AND show bets. If your horse comes in second, you collect on the place and show bets. In third, you collect on the show bet.

DAILY DOUBLE
Pick the winners of two consecutive designated races (back to back).

QUINELLA
Pick the horses that will come first and second in a race in any order.

EXACTA
The EXACTA is EXACTLY what is sounds like. To win, you must pick the horses you believe will come in first and second respectively in a given race.

TRIFECTA
"TRI" meaning three, indicates that the bettor must pick the first three finishers of a race in the EXACT order.

PICK THREE
When you place a PICK THREE bet, you must pick the winners of three races in a row to win.

PICK SEVEN
Although more difficult than a PICK THREE, challenge your ability to read the facts and pick the winners of seven consecutive races.

BOX
If you have two or more horses that you think will finish in the top spots, but you're not sure of the order, you can box them. This means that you win if your horses come in any order.

WHEEL
With a WHEEL bet, you are betting on one horse to WIN with ALL the other horses in the race. For example, you placed an EXACTA WHEEL on #5. You win if horse #5 comes in first and ANY of the other horses comes in second.

SUPERFECTA
Correctly select the first four finishers in the exact order of finish.

KEY OR PART WHEEL
Unlike the EXACTA WHEEL, a KEY or PART WHEEL means that you are betting on one horse with SOME of the others. An EXACTA WHEEL on #5, with horses 2,3& 4, means that you would win if the #5 horse comes in first and either #2, #3 or #4 horses come in 2nd.
