If You boxed it you won... you had all three #'s and they can come in at any order (Boxed)... just as long as they are the top three..

hope this helps..

Gunther, your ticket does not say EX BX which means exacta box. The only thing I can suggest is email them and ask what wager did you have on the race and go from there. Can I make 1 suggestion: Before you start betting large amts of money learn what you are doing I have seen people lose hundred of thousands of dollars. Just lower your wagers until you are comfortable that you know exactly what you are doing. It's a tough game to begin with.

EXX= exacta box.
well anyhow i didnt mean to put that much.. wanted only a buck but dunno hwy i was rissking 6. anyhow i understand the concern but it looked really good. had only 6 horses in the race, 3.5.6 was the top fav the other were like 20-30 odds to win.
so i layed a 100 when i clicked confirm it said i was to risk 6. thats why i started the post.
i lost 240 on that play. not that much but still i loss. didnt think i could do anything about it. next time i know!

The reason you lost money was because it was a three horse exacta box and the exacta paid less than what it cost to box the three horse combination... hence you dont even break even and you lose money... happens sometimes when the top three choices come in the money...

hope this helps...

I see, like NJtrader said it is not a good idea to box the 3 favorites, you will lose money most of the time. Anyway, I wish you luck in the future!!!

In a situation like yours with 3 favorites... I would have done what is called an exacta key.. That means You pick the horse you think has the best shot at winning and then key him over the other two... So, The "key" horse has to win and the other two can come in any any order... just as long as it is second place... This would cost you the same as a regular exacta box... I have won a ton with this type of bet when I have a horse I particulary like and like a few to come in 2nd/3rd... The thing is that horse has to WIN...

hope this helps a little...

NJ is right.
Being only a short field (of 6 horses) and the favorites won and placed, everyone and their dog had the exactor, that's why it paid so little.

You have to remember that in horse racing, it doesn't require a big bet to win big money. Unlike sports betting which pays essential 1-1, horse races can pay many times to 1 depending on what comes in.

Just play small to begin with until you get the nuances of horse racing.

Good Luck.
