Derby contest?

Even if there are no prizes we need to get discussion going about what we want to do for a Derby contest. What are everyone's thoughts?

I will be working dayshift next weekend Fri-Sun, so won't be able to help out with a contest but can offer some ideas for one. I would suggest letting everyone wager $100 anyway they wish on the race with person winning the most money being the winner. Make any type wager but only involving the Derby(no pick 3s or pick 4s) up to $100. Can make more than 1 wager if you like. Say you want to play $50 to win and maybe play an exacta or tri using the other $50. Or we can even include the Oaks on Friday and allow $50 for each race or $100 for each race if you like. Just a suggestion...

Not sure why you directed this towards me, but FYI, Jack did give out prizes last year for picking the winner of the Derby, but don't believe the 2 or 3 previous years he did. But since you have only been a member since last Jan, I guess you would know...

Hopefully Jack can come thru with something again this year, but thats totally up to him.

As I said I Want Revenge has opened as the 3-1 top choice followed by Pioneer of the Nile and Dunkirk at 4-1. Friesan fire is at 6-1 and rounds out a top 4 that should take most of the betting action on Saturday.

Best Value>>>>>>> Desert Party 15-1
Worst Value>>>>>>PioneeroftheNile 4-1 (Not going to enjoy the surface)
Winner>>>>>I Want Revenge 3-1 Can overcome everything that go wrong for a horse in a 20 horse field.

Two 5F breezes(1:00.4 and 1:01) in the last 2 weeks over the Churchill track suggestd that POTN will enjoy the dirt surface. But thats just my opinion. I agree that 15-1 for Desert Party is good value, but I think his stablemate, Regal Ransom, at 30-1 might be a little better if you looking for a value play...
