It's sad that every sport seems to be going in this direction. "Anything to Win" is now the world's motto.
On a different note, This makes me think, what if there were an Olympic Mile and horses (2 qualifiers from each country that wanted to participate) went and ran qualifying races in the US and abroad a month or so prior to the Olympics and then took the qualifying horses to the Olympics for an Olympic Mile champ. Even have an Olympic handicap, Sprint, QH, and full day of racing. The only problem would be getting a purse allowed, since not many would throw away a year of high stakes racing to pursue a no payoff Olympic race. Just a thought, I was bored. |
