I kno when you look at live horses...keep an eye on the ears...(should be forward) and if the horse is composed (if horse all sweaty is a bad sign.) One thing I like to look at is the muscles in the front legs...the bigger the better (also check for tone..). Indysports (friend) helps me out a ton when looking at live horses.

If anyone else can add little special tricks they do at the horse races I'd greatly appreciate it.

There are a million things that I have heard people say to look for including whichever has just taken a dookie. Those things mentioned above are some of the physical features that many look at while wagering and viewing the horses as the go past you. Of course, you would also like to do some real capping of the horses and their past races and the races that their competition have run as well. I am not good at any of these so I will continue to donate my share to Churchill and OTB's. Good Luck!

The person who knows the easy way to winning would probably never give out that info for the simple fact he/she would be shooting off his/her own foot. And Im sure those setting the race keeps this in mind when setting it up...so when you check those odds..dont completely believe in em. Go with ur gut. Realize that just cause it says 20-1 doesnt mean it has 0 chance. One way to help you is find which jockey/trainer/owner seems to hit more for you...then bet when you see those odds kinda in favor (say 5-1 or less...remember you make the call...). Many people get on the idea of what the odds say instead of using the odds to YOUR advantage.(i.e. - dont let the odds CONTROL what you think/feel...use them to help your feelings/thoughts.)

Another good advice is to try to stick to a small amount of tracks...dont go to every track betting...find ya some Jockeys/trainers/owners you like and follow them to certain tracks...learn all the horses (err try to) and go from there. With over 20+ tracks out there now...it's easy to go from one to the next trying to hit the right odds. I think you end up losing more in that route. Like others have said..study study study.

Yo Jim......The number of posts in here don't mount to a hill of beans...half of my posts have been in the drunk thread......We really haven't talked about wagereing strategies since I have been here, but maybe some of the "real" handicappers will give some info to what they look for in a horse.........

Good advice.....but the fact is, there are plenty of betting options out there, be it poker, sports, horse racing, dog racing, lotteries, bingos, etc etc. So stick with the ones that you are good at or think you are good at.

Thus far, BFD should quit playing poker and horse racing LOL.

The second best advice is.....find out who the "CROOKS" are and bet accordingly.
