going to belmont this weekend - any advice?

Hi all, I am heading to belmont this weekend on saturday and maybe sunday - anyone have any advice/power figures? It will be my first time out (I just finishd the book smooth recommended...looking foward to looking at the animals in the paddock, etc.

The only advice I can give you is.....do not be influenced by the tote board. Based on statistics, the "favorite" only wins around 30% of the time. So on a 10 race card, if 3 favorites come in, its been a "favorites" kind of day. Take a closer look at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choices on the board. Most programs have slots where you can record the WPS prices of the top 3 finishers. So you can keep track of how often the favorites win. Good Luck Larry. On average, the winner will be either the post time favorite, second, third, or fourth favorite a total of 78% of the time... so you may want to focus on looking at them for you general contenders. I actually ran an exercise one year to analyze betting interest and % of wins.... I am going to do it again at Monmouth this year with some new criteria.

Favorites... they can be your friend when they are strong, but will kill you if they are a false favorite.... strong favorites/false favorites is one of my bread and butter angles.

Good luck this weekend, honestly I didn't look at Belmont for either day... If I had known you were going I would have taken a look at it for you bro!
