I looked over the Hoosier card for Wednesday night during the day today and thought I'd add to tp's thread with my views on Bennets entries. He has 2 runners going tomorrow night, one of which is a 2 year old making her second start in a Maiden Special Weight race. #7 Capo d'Oro ran 3rd behind 10 lengths in her first race as the favorite going off at 2-1. The notes read Came out, bump turn and Wednesday she adds blinkers which should keep her focused better. The morning line is 4-1 and by no means is she a sure thing in this field of nine 2 year olds. The one to beat I think is #9 Southern Way, ML of 5-1. This filly has 1 race so far also and it was 2 weeks ago over the Hoosier Park track, where she finished 2nd, losing by 4 lengths. She broke from the inside post that night and dueled on the lead until the end. The only negative tonight is she breaks from the outside post. Another one to watch is #2 Plum Lawless, a first time starter from one of the top sires of 2 year olds this year, Yes It's True . This filly has had several steady workouts at Churchill Downs in the last 6 weeks and may fire at first asking. The one downside here is trainer Steve Margolis, who is 1 for 1 at Hoosier this meet and winning at 16% overall for the year, is 0-15 with first time starters. An exacta box with the 2,7,9 might work fine here...
The second Bennet horse Wednesday night is in the 8th race with #8 Ittybittybeau, a 5 year old mare in an $8000 claiming race. This is one of the Bennet horses shipping in from Great Lakes Downs, which as tp mentioned in another post have been running well this meet. The morning line favorite at 5-2, I imagine this horse will go off at even money or less. She is 2 of 4 this year with both wins comming at GLD against $7500 claimers. She went off as the favorite in both those races. Her last race, also at GLD was a $25K Optional Claimer where she pressed the pace running 2nd the entire race til the end when she gave way and finished a respecable 4th against much tougher. That race was at 7 furlongs and for this race she shortens up to 5 1/2 furlongs. I will key this horse on top in a trifecta using the 3,5,& 9 horses underneath...
