Horse Contest!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1-25----1-27

Since the Kentucky Derby is right around the corner, Dr. Jack is going to allow us to run a couple contests each month up until the Derby. If Wabash or Davedave want to help, that would be great. If not, I will run it. Whichever contests that we want to run is fine with me. Just throwing out some ideas right now......We could do like the Triple Crown did for years and give out 5pts for a first place, 3 pts for second and 1 pt for a third place finish. I only asked Dr. Jack if we could receive some t-shirts for the winners and he agreed. I don't care about the prize, I just enjoyed playing with you guys last summer and fall. I would love to run something this weekend if we have enough people intersted......Lets throw out some ideas. We can have the 500 bankroll and play until Sunday night and whoever had the most jack wins. Or we could say that you need to make 10 plays each of the three days and whoever has the most money wins or anything else that someone can come up with......................Lets hear your thoughts!

I would be more than happy to help out when I can. I do work some weekends but the ones I am off I can help out. My suggestion as to how to run it would be to give everyone a $500 payroll to bet. Basically do what we did most of last year, except this year only allow the $500 to be bet and not the winnings. In other words, you have $500 total to bet over a weekend and whoever has the most winnings from those wagers wins. I just think this would be easier to track instead of letting everyone keep betting their winnings. Just a thought.

The only other rule I would like to see since this is all leading up to the derby, is a requirement that a certain wager(say $50) be placed on each Derby prep race run that weekend. There is at least 1 prep race every week starting this week up until derby week.

I am planning on starting a seperate thread strictly for the derby prep races where I will handicap each race and post my selections and thoughts. I will update in that thread each week what derby prep races will be run for that weekend so every knows which race is being run. This week the California Derby at GoldenGate Fields will be run on Saturday.

The $500 bankroll we're all familiar with is best I think too. Can't wait for to come in last

Cool.....I think we can run both of the contests....just maybe different weeks...I liked the way we did it last year, but I would also like to see the way that WW suggested. This would allow for a true handicapper to concentrate on a certain race...............either way I'm game.......

I think Jack would throw in some money if we were to get alot of people involved in the contest and into the horse threads.......I just like the thrill of the competition...................

I think between myself, WildKat and Davey, at least 1 of us can be around every weekend to monitor and keep track of a contest. Think we would keep more interest if we do it every week. Plus the fact that there is at least one Derby prep race every week from now til the Derby. So, its a good way to learn about and watch all the horses that will probably run in the Derby. Should be another great year for 3 year olds this year.
