horseracing newbie question

When reading the board:

No. Name Win Place Show
4 Cherokee Spook 6.40 4.10 2.80
3 Neon Magic 9.20 4.40
2 Mr. Determined 2.60

Does this mean on a two dollar ticket for the 4 horse to place, the payout would be 4.10 on top of the 2 (so you would collect 6.10) or does it include the 2 for the ticket (so you would collect 4.10 at the window?)

For example: if a horse is paying 3-1 to win and it wins. The posted win price would be 8.00 (3 to 1 PLUS your original $2)

You shoulda been here 10 mins ago. I just nailed a triactor at the big "A". A 1/9 favorite on top in a 6 horse field paid $26

Thanks and congrats - I actually just finished opening a new account for horses - my book did not offer them - so I played Rips/Pinos two as well as #6 in the A 8th (Forest Danger) and smooths two. First horse action ever for me - so just played them all to place while I learn all of the other bets. I will be tailing you often from now on as well.

It is fun. I don't bet much. Just trying to catch a couple of longshots. I kinda like the ponies because of the better odds. In sports its usually around even money whereas with the ponies, if you get lucky, $1 can bring back hundreds and even Ks.
