"Inside" opinion on the Belmont

Okay, a friend of a friend is a thoroughbred jocky and good friend of Gary Stevens (hall of fame jockey and jockey of Chekhov in the Belmont).

His picks for the Belmont:
1) Alex 2) Reverberate 3) Chekhov 4) Giacomo

Take it for what it's worth.

I see Reverberate in most everyone's top 3 so I went with this bet :
Reverberate straight win $50 payout $450...
Reverberate top 3 $50 payout $150...
Just for the thrill and hopefully some cash !

It's impossible to figure the odds on show since we won't know what the other two horses to finish in the money will be. Afleet Alex is very likely to finish in the money and will likely have 65% - 75% of the show pool by post time.

I was wrong on the percentages there, but based on the opening odds that is typically how it would set up.

I took the assignment, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It sucks driving the Belt Parkway out to JFK airport everyday, but someone had to do it!
