I want to see the official field before I make my picks final since I do look at pace and position when you can send 20 horses to post in a race!

I'll probably throw all 20 in a hat and pick out 5 and play an exacta and trifecta box...

After the post draw today, I see the morning line favorite is Bellamy Road as expected at 5-2. Next is Afleet Alex at 9-2, Bandini at 6-1 and High Fly at 8-1. No other horse among the 16 remaining ones are less than 12-1. Talk about your good betting race!!

leaning towards noble causway will love the distance, if it is a hot pace.

I am pulling (and wagering) on Afleet Alex. I know some people involved with this horse, and I think his stroy is great. Bellamy Road should be the favorite, but so were the Yankees, another Steinbrenner toy. I also think Bandini is a good play in the exotics.

some info that may help in your handicapping for the derby...

4 horses have improved on their speed figures with each race they have raced in...

Noble Causeway 59,72,77,85,96,100...

Bandini 46,86,90,98,103...

Flower Alley 62,88,93,95...

Greely's Galaxy 73,80,95,106...

will improvement continue for these horses? If so, they must be considered contenders...

Going Wild could easily steal the race. Afleet Alex, Bandini and Bellamy Road the horses to beat.

I'm Leaning toward Afleet Alex or Bandini.
Wilko and Noble Causeway will cause some concerns down the stretch.

Last year if I remember correctly it was a muddy track, weather shouldn't be a factor this year.

Louisville, KY, Saturday, Mostly sunny skies. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible late. High 79F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Good luck all
