Kentucky Derby talk...

Since we are less than a month away from the most exciting 2 minutes in sports, I thought I'd start a thread dedicated just to the Kentucky Derby. Whether it be posting your contenders, picking your actual winner, or even talking about past Derbys, feel free to post any comments or thoughts here for all to see.

Here is a list of the graded stakes earnings so far. The top 19 earn their way into the Derby if they choose to go. There may be a few horses listed that will not go to the Derby which means a horse listed 20,21,22 or so may be in right now. This list does not include this weekends earnings, but I don't think any major changes accord because of the results. Dunkirk as you can see if going to need a lot of help to get into the top 19. It will be a shame if he does not get in. A couple horses listed are already off the Derby trail, such as The Pamplemousse. Square Eddie who has not raced since January because of an injury has been working out again, so he could still be headed towards the Derby.

Mafaaz won the Win and you are in race in England.

Mike Battaglia who sets the odds for the Derby has already said that Dunkirk would be the second choice behind Quality Road if he were to get in somehow.

get a feel that a longshot ala giacomo wins this year, just a thought. favorite will probably go off at 4-1 though.

Giant Oak will not run in the Derby it was announced today. That means Summer Bird will now move up into the 20th spot on the graded earnings list.
