Mohawk June 23rd race 5 and 7

5th race

I like the #1 based on class. Winning 6 of 13 starts ( and 14 of 37 lifetime), dropping down in class when if decent form and drawing the rail should have him in postion to unleash his good late trot. 3 of his last 4 have him drawing outside versus better and the one inside post had him interferred and then broke late, in a race he could have won, if he stayed trotting. He closed nicely in the lane in his last and drops and draws well... a clean line should have him very close at the end and at 8-1, may be overlooked at the windows.

The 5th is another tough, competitive race. The #8 horse is obviously very classy, but hasn't been holding on in recent starts, though he does keep the rail alive. The #5 also drops off a couple of good efforts, doesn't win often enough to make me think he can get the job done tonight.
The #9 intrigues me a bit off the speed try, but he may get hungout to dry by Stiletto who needs the engine. The #4 has some gate speed and my longshot pick has enough early trot to close the holes behind the engine, so maybe next time out for the #9.

7th race

The 7th race is one of the toughest on the card, and probably one that I won't be betting (with the exception of exotics like the pick 3)
The race is filled with shippers, and breakers (yes, I know the 5 was on of the breakers last start, but was solid in this class last time out and it was 1st Condren) The #1 was the 4th pick and has 3x off his qualifier should be tighter- making this one one to be watched (I believe this horse will be bet way down and offer little value)

As for the #6 I like his lines off his last 3 races and believe he has a bit of hidden trot in his last. At 6-1, I think he might be overlooked and go off higher and his current form can beat many of these.

If the 5 returns to previous form, he'll be on the board and there's just something that makes me wonder why Keith Jones would bring the #7 to Mohawk 2nd time off the claim, perhaps an equipment change? With no apparent standout in the race, I'll look for value and these 3 horses offer more than I think the #1 will.

My reason for tossing most of the breakers... one more break and they go on the qualifying list, so in my opinion, unless they have a chance to win, they won't be pushed hard.
