Monmouth

So I wind up in Monmouth about four times a year on business. I'm heading up there next week (May 16-20) for a meeting. The meetings are held pretty near Ft. Monmouth. I usually stay in Eatontown. Question is, where is the Monmouth Park horse track in relation to Ft. Monmouth. Is there racing there this time of year (opens this weekend I think). Is there racing at night or Monday late afternoon? Is it worth actually going to the track?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can provide information.

Monmouth always races during the day (they don't have lights). Normally their annual live racing meet starts around Memorial Day, although that may have changed with the closing of Atlantic City (for all intents and purposes--A.C. races a few days a year to meet their state's statutes regarding simulcasting). I believe the track is located near Monmouth Beach, although I have to say it has been quite a long time since I was there, so I could be way off base here. Monmouth Park is in New Jersey as was mentioned previously by GrandGouda.

Monmouth Park located in Oceanport, NJ. Their live meet starts Saturday May 14. They are running a free handicapping contest this year.

Cool, thanks blacksheep. Checked out their site and it's got to be near where I stay in Eatontown. But it doesn't look like they race during the week this week...

Monmouth races Saturday and Sunday this weekend and next... starting with Memorial Day they are open Wed-Sun.

If you are going to be down there, let us know.... njtrader, bigdaddyjt, and I are all local!

Smooth - Sweet! I get into town Monday night the 16th (my 30th birthday) and fly out Friday afternoon. I stay at the Staybridge Suites in Eatontown, pretty close to the Monmouth Mall. Would be cool to get together, maybe meet somewhere Monday night for drinks?

I'll see what I can do bro, but it looks doubtful right now. If anything changes I'll let you know.... you need to come back when we have live racing all week long (or hang out for a weekend).

Enjoy that baby smooth, time flies. I've got a 2½ year old at home and it kills me to travel anymore.

I hear ya there.... I miss him while I am at work a whopping 5 miles from home.

Let me know the next time you are out in Jersey, I'll probably be more available as everyone gets better (and bigger).
