Well it wasn't much of a track but I certainly enjoyed spending an afternoon at the races of the Three County Fair in Northampton Mass.
Races had been part of this fair since 1856, with the thoroughbred racing starting in 1943.
Casino's and gambling elsewhere did them in. The total for the last seven days of racing was 1.6 million. Not enough for all of the expenses.
The horses were so so and often I wagered on the Jockeys rather than actually cap, but it was a great way to end the summer.
Good Fair Food, reasonable beer prices, $3 for a 16 oz can of Bud if I remember correctly and the last two years I came out ahead for the day..
Leaves Suffolk Downs as the only horse track in New England.
