Pick 4 for Del Mar 8/31

Received no love yesterday. Two 3 out of 4's and one 2 out of 2. Del Mar was the toughest one to take with two of my longshots running 2nd. One lost by less than a nose and the other I was beaten by a $50 horse. Oh well, I need some luck today, because this 2nd stuff is not working.

Here we go.....
$1 pick 4 = $108
Race 5 - 1,4,6,7,8,9 (Validar - R5 top pick)
Race 6 - 2,8, (Excessively N Love)
Race 7 - 3,4,6 (Nueilly)
Race 8- 2,3,9 (Sorority Bid)

Here some others I like.....

Race 1 - Yes Talk to Me: improved when blinkers removed
Race 2 - Lady Gamer: Nakatani/Sadler 5 for 7
Race 3 - Smokey Stover: Gilchrist 63% 2nd off
Race 4 - Royal B: light weight may help this one hang on

Well, excessively n love scratched out of the 6th, so I'm replacing him with Mr. Thatcher - this one has some good turf numbers and I like the fact Valdiva is in the saddle. Marquez is 7 for 16 in the money, so he's due like me, he needs a win.

Some tough luck again in the pick 4. The 5th started off perfect, except for Validar who hopped a bit and ducked in at the start, then drifted out about 15horses wide off the fence. He was almost 30 behind at that point and still only missed 4th by 2. Put this one on your tracker, he could win at a nice price down the road. Of course the 8&9 spit it out, but Lord Elijah looked like a winner at the top of the stretch. I guess he moved too early. Race 6th - after the scratch, my replacement Mr Thatcher looked like a winner at 16/1, but the jock lost the whip, game over. Sir Chimi might been the best horse in the race, because Pete had him pinned down the entire stretch. Race 7&8 - both my top picks (Nueilly 9.40 & Sorority Bid 6.00) won, so the day ended on a postive note. As for the others I liked, it wasn't too bad. Race 1 - nice start with a $11 winner. Race 2 - Lady Gamer ran a winning race, but lost a close one. Race 3- Smokey Stove had the worst trip of the day, steadied and waited forever. He was stuck inside all the way around the track and backed up to last at top of the stretch, then exploded to run 2nd. There's doubt in my mind this horse would have won this race. Race 4 - Royal B $5.80- it appears the light weight and class drop got this one into the winners circle. Overall for top picks not bad, 4 winners, but I'm after that pick 4.
