rip I have a couple of questions??????? Did 1A scractch??????/ So is the play just number 1 for 7/2 odds....? How much will that pay if it wins???????? will it be like 15.25 or how much would that be......also the same goes with the 12/1 odds...how much will it actually pay out.....Sometimes like 12 to 1 horses will end up paying like 30 or 40 bones times whatever you have on them so thats why I am wondering??????one more question does your friend have a pretty good intinct on these horses today I mean does he really think they will come in first....let me know what he says because I might go really big on win place and show.......I am thinking about betting like $500 on the horses to win today thats why I wanted to know how much they would actually pay out for us today...like if that 12to 1 horse pays out like 40 then that would be like $20000 divided into 2 for the $2 bet and I would make $10000 today.....thats why I am wondering.........let me know thanks rip for all the hard work I won a lot of money yesterday on your horses........

Andy, 12-1 winner will pay between $26.00 and $27.80. Payouts are based on a $2 wager, therefore what you do is take the odds, in this case 12 and multiply by 2 and then add your $2 bet(12x2=24+2=26). Now the actual odds could be between 12-1 and 13-1, which is why the payout could be as much as 27.80. 13-1 would pay 28.00 and up to 29.80. The 7-2 odds will pay between 9.00 and 10.80. A 12-1 would never pay $40, I am not sure where you saw that result. Hope this helps.

Let me explain further for you on the place and show payouts...Since the top 2 finishes get place money and the top 3 get show money, there is no way to determine the payouts for these in advance. However, if you are playing a horse to place or show and its not one of the favorites, you want the favorite to finish out of the money so your payout will be more. The reason for this is most times the favorite not only has the most win money on him, or her, but also has the most place and show money. Therefore if that horse finishes out of the money, all that money bet on him goes into the pool for the other horses who finished in the top 3. More money in the pool means a bigger payout. Basically, when the favorite finishes out of the top 3, then the place and show payouts will be bigger...

hey wash would this be pretty stupid to do?????? Bet all the 10-1 odds and up on each race because most of the time there seems to be a lot of dogs that will come in and when they do they come in pretty big.......

AR.....you seemed to be hooked on horse racing now, that is fine. But you have to understand that the huge day you had a while back don't happen everyday. You need to be patient and pick your spots.

There are reasons why a horse is at 10-1 or higher....because its chances of winning are slim but it still has a chance. Any horse that is loaded into the starting gate has a chance to win.

Lets say there is 10 horses in a race and 6 of them are at 10-1 or higher. That means there are 4 horses under 10-1. These are the 4 that the majority of the bettors think will have the best shot at winning the race. Are you willing to bet against these 4 horses?? If you are, then bet the other 6 at 10-1 or higher.

If you do your own handicapping, and according to your analysis, the top 4 choices are false favorites, then you can bet the other 6 horses with confidence.
