Preakness thoughts...

Have not totally made up my mind what my plays will be but here are my thoughts on the Preakness...

First off, I have it down to 4 runners that I like to possibly win the race. Big Drama, Mine That Bird, Friesan Fire or Pioneerof the Nile. I do not think Rachel Alexandra will win and even if I did I probably would not bet her at low odds with so much other value in the race.

#1 Big Drama...Has speed and the rail. Posted 108 beyer(tops with Rachel Alexandra) in last race, which was his only race this year. Loses Coa to Musket Man but picks up Jonny V and could go gate to wire at a nice price.

#2 Mine That Bird...Will obviously lay way back off what looks to be a quick pace and take his final runin the last 3 furlongs. Definitely has a shot at probably decent odds for a Derby winner.

#3 Musket Man...This horse continues to impress with 5 wins and 2 shows from 7 starts. Has good tactical speed which should keep him close enough to the pace for a possible late run. Not enough to wim, but a must use underneath in exotics.

#4 Luv Gov...Broke his maiden on Derby Day after 10 tries. Will come from off the pace but don't see this one being a factor.

#5 Friesan Fire...Finished next to last in Derby as the favorite but thats a little misleading as jockey basically eased him up when he realized he had no shot to save him. That was his first start in 7 weeks and I look for him to come back strong 2nd time out off the layoff. Also has good tactical speed and should be up close and make a run late. Possible winner

#6 Terrain...Has lost to 5 of these in previous races so doesn't look good from that point of view. Has only had 3 races on a fast dirt track and won 2 of them, but they were both sprints at beginning of career. Don't see him hitting the board.

#7 Papa Clem...Fourth place finisher in the Derby will be another one up close to the pace(he was never worse than 4th at any call of Derby). I like Bejarano and think he gives him a great ride, but like Musket Man, I think he doesn't have enough to win, but a must use underneath in exotics.

#8 General Quarters...Sentimental choice in the Derby will have to do a lot better if he expects to win here. Maybe use him on the bottom of supers or high 5 play, but thats it.

#9 Pioneerof the Nile...My choice in the Derby finished 2nd and I expect him to come back even stronger for the Preakness. Another that will be up close to the pace(Get the idea of how hot the pace may be in this thing) and hope to may that final run in the stretch. Good win play and a must use underneath in exotics.

#10 Flying Private... Last place finisher in Derby. Enough said.

#11 Take the Points...ran 4th behind POTN in his last race in the SA Derby. Well rested and adds blinkers for this race. Will be one of many pressing for the lead but doubt he is anywhere near it in the end.

#12 Tone It Down...Only horse in the field with a race over the track, a 3rd place finish on Derby day in the Federico Tesio Stakes. This another horse that likes to be on the lead but wonbt have enough to stay with the others.

#13 Rachel Alexandra...Huge favorite will probably go off at 8-5 or lower. Can she win? Yes, but no way do I bet her at those odds in this race. This will be the toughest field she has ever faced and will be pressed right from the start. I can't see her lasting if she tries for the lead with all the speed in this race. I may play 1 trifecta keying her on top, but otherwise her only use will be underneath in exotics.

Good luck to all in the Preakness...

GL Chris

no one will read this, so I think I am safe to say this, I do business with someones brother every day and thus I offer my 2 cents worth.

I know where my little bucks are going.

Of course everything is taken with a grain of salt as most owners and trainers feel good about their entries much like coaches of ball teams

gl Rachel picked the right track in the narrower Pimlico, she killed the competition in the oaks but against no one, these are the boys now we see what happens when girls are pushed to run to fast...But Pimlico is the spot for here....Still like Pioneer of the Nile but wont bet a Baffert horse...Like big Drama, Papa Clem, Musket Man

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. I had some luck with just about every race at the KD exept the Derby. I think there is good value in some across wagers. Friesan Fire, PTN, MTB and Papa Clem.

GL today

Thanks, unfortunately sometimes its minus $$$,lol. But I feel pretty good today about the horses I like. Just a difficult race to pick the winner in my opinion. Great betting race

Yeah I was surprised at the pick 4 payouts, they loved that filly in the pick 4, paid me back $65, lol. Had the 2 and the 9 also was hoping the 2 would catch

If Mine that Bird had a cleaner trip it might of been different, that's the problem when you try to make a run from so far back it has to be a clear trip to have a chance. Big props to the Philly though she was awesome.
